In Sterling, a Sapphire 7770 is between £115 and £125, and from what I see, the performance isn't significant enough to justify that kind of lolly..

AMD, sort it oot or your going to lose a raft of gamers to Kepler, we waited patiently for this mediocre release, don't think we can't wait for Nvidia, it's only 60 days away mad.gif

Keep in mind, a big part of the pricing behind the 7000 series is driven by TSMC's 28nm production not matching demand. The very reason why Kepler isn't out right now is the same reason why AMD's prices are so high. You probably won't see large drops in pricing when Kepler hits, unless yields have picked up and wafer production allows for a reevaluation of pricing. There's plenty of out of stock cards on newegg, even with the poor price/performance 7770 (5 out of 10 models are out of stock).

Disregarding the bloated pricing of 28nm wafers, the HD 7770 really is a great card. That die size is tiny, and if the 28nm process is a bit more forgiving to AMD, as wafer prices decline, the HD 7770 should sell for very cheap, and the HD 7750 for even less.

It's already at $159? The 5770 may have "launched" at $159, but the price crept up to $179 and stayed there until the GTX 460 was released. It need to drop much more than that in today's market. You can get a 6870 (or a 560) for roughly the same price, and they walk all over the 7770. More like ... $120-130.

The eventual price drop forthcoming will be great for the 7000 series because their power draw makes em so much more appealing over previous gen cards

The clock-for-clock testing is nice, but they should also include stock-clock benchmarks for the HD7770 in that chart IMO. Nice find. smile.gif Get that price down to $140 and we'll talk wink.gif
