Recommend me speakers

Thread Starter
Looking for speakers for general computer gaming/listening to music. Looking to spend around $100-300. Will I notice a considerable difference from a very old 2.1 speaker set from like 8 years ago? Looking for crisp clear sounds. Will rep for included places to buy and good responses. These will go with my Asus Xonar STX.

if you have the room on your desk

book shelf speakers will pound on pretty much all computer speaker options

I have polk bookshelf speakers and a T-amp... which I love (specifically T15 bookshelf speakers I got for $49 (pair) on sale and a SMSL SA-S3 t-amp

i still need to get a sub however.. just haven't got around to it.

a popular option (cause they are frequently on sale for $80-90~) on newegg are the polk M30 bookshelf speakers and T-Amp (with DTA-100a t-amp) and a powered sub

newegg has these on sale for $69 pair now... I have heard good things about these Pioneer speakers

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117405
($69.99)

and

($89.99)

and

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-633

($89.99)

so $250~

these speakers are another popular choice (cause they sound nice and are hella cheap)

many people also have Swan powered speakers for their computers

this set is kinda awesome and wouldn't take as much desk space as bookshelf speakers I suppose.

and of course the M200MKII

An old 2.1 of the same price? Quality would have decreased due to inflation.
