Question Regarding a TH10

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

With 2012 finally here it's time to start on my next dedicated folding@home build. Unlike the other builds I have runing this one has to be deadly quiet just like my previous project.

My old case was a HAF 932 and unfortunately was nowhere near big enough for the extra 480mm radiator I had to use. I've been looking at various cases but have finally set my sights on a TH10 as it offers the expandability i'll be needing for a build like this.

My first question for now is quite simple however I haven't been able to accurately measure this as I don't own the case / board.

I'd like to know if I can fit an XSPC RX series radiator + gentle typhoon fans on one side of the radiator (I.e. not push/pull) in the base of teh CaseLabs TH10 case without blocking access to the very bottom of an HPTX motherboard (preferably with some clearance). I can measure for you the thickness than an RX series XSPC rad + gentle typhoon fan makes if needed as that setup is currently sitting outside of my current build so easy to obtain an accurate measurement.

Without a doubt there will be more little questions when I decide how i'm going to sort out tubing but what I want to do is minimise the amount of tubing I use and increase the amount of BP fittings I use.

Link to previous build here (Pages 1, 6 & 7)

This should give you an idea of how I sorted out the last build and what i'd like to achieve out of this one. FYI the GPU setup present in the last build will very likely be re-used in this build, everything else is a surprise to a greater or lesser extent.

Have a nice day & thanks for any help you can provide!

Sleinous

I don't know about the bottom, certainly you could put it in the extended top with the fans inside the case. Maybe call Jim if you have need a quick answer.

Hello Stren,

Unfortunately i'm currently in France for a year and usually in UK so our timezones are near opposites but i've sent an email in and i'll measure up the radiator+fan combined thickness in a bit. Thanks for your help!

Kind regards,

Sleinous

According to the Magnum Case Owner's Manual that Jim posted a while back, there's 90mm of clearance below the motherboard tray on a TH10.

not home to take measurements..but a sneak peak at my build that is almost done.

you see there a XSPC EX480 + Triebwerk TF-121 in a TH10. The motherboard is an Asus RIVE.

so that 35.5mm + 55mm = 90.5mm and room to spare before you get close to the motherboard / motherboard tray.

So an RX would be 65mm thick + Typhoon would be 25mm = 90mm.

you could probably to p/p without hitting the board... you will be just fine with fans on only 1 side thumb.gif

Indeed, a push pull config would also be great. Which reminds me... I need to start looking into finding a white front-plated fan controller else i'm going to have to mod one.

In all truth there is a surprising amount of room between the MB and radiator (width wise) so even if you go push pull at a later date I would think you would have 3cm + between the rad or fans and the MB so plenty of room to plug in front control panel items/ sound and usb. (btw I have not yet installed my 480, these dims are not precise!)
but here is a poor representation of the Mb to Rad dims

Many thanks for your help kaiser!! Indeed it seems I should be absolutely fine, even have room to install the metal optional accessory plate over the top to cover the bottom rad and allow me to place my BP fittings on top.
