Are Mobo Mount Holes the Same or Different?

I'm trying to find info on this but I thought I should ask while I'm searching. Are the mounting holes in the same layout when comparing the 12" x 9.6" to the 12" x 8.6" mobo?

I personally don't know for sure but if your case supports the specific board type does it matter?

Hope this helps rolleyes.gif

I think it Depends on the manufacture...but I've had all mine fit (though the mounting holes were abit different)

Pretty sure the larger one uses the offset screw at the bottom of the Mobo

I can get pics later if no one answers

Currently using a case that supports standard-size atx mobos. I'm considering to use the mobo in my sig to build my daughter a rig. So eventually, I need to start shopping for another mobo and was considering to buy the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 which is a 12" x 8.6" atx mobo.

From what I gathered on this PDF, the answer would seem to be yes, because in order to be called ATX, the motherboard has to fit the universal mounting holes. See page 9.

Yes to both mobo's....it's universal mounting. Also, you'll love the asrock z68.

It's based on a "form factor" which the motherboard manufacturer will tell you. For instance, "ATX" is a form factor just like mATX, ITX, E-ATX and so on. Typically pre-built PC companies like Dell and HP use their own custom form factor.

I would personally not recommend Asrock, though its probably a great board. I have had a bad experience with them "Mobo broke 2 days after mfr warranty, they wanted me to pay a fee that was not worth it". Terrible customer support, I think its based in Asia/California.

Go with Gigabyte or Asus
