Corsair 300R Question About Mobo and Top Fan Clearances.

Thread Starter
The 300R looks like a good choice for a new build. Just wanted to see if any owners are using a standard ATX board with top 120 or 140mm fans. How is the clearance between the top of mobo and fans i.e. are the fans very close to cpu cooler, fan headers, 8 pin connector ?

There's plenty of room for fans, but not quite enough room for a radiator/fans without encroaching on the motherboard space.

Some boards will work fine with an H100, but most with large VRM heatsinks or CPU power headers up top will have issues with the thickness. Here's an image for reference:

Do you know if the MSI P67A-GD53 will work? I know in some corsair cases you can offset the radiator by attaching it through the mesh holes and not through the screw holes. Are the mesh holes big enough to stick screws through?

Notice: I don't know if this thread is dead or what, I'm just trying to be helpful.

Hey mothman, I have a 300R. I have an ASUS 990FX Sabertooth installed, and 2 x120mm mounted up top.

Corsair designed the case in this manner, though the case was not designed to fit an H100 up top. (Hence the H70 in the picture above)

Check out my "300R Build/Mod" thread if you'd like to see more pictures. I had to throw a window on the side as well!

Hope this helps you make your decision!thumb.gif
