How does one monitor CPU behavior in game?

I understand that you can get certain pieces of hardware that would display CPU behavior but I'm wondering what you guys use IN GAME to tell if the CPU is doing its job. I have an i7-2700k and I'm new to turbo boost. I downloaded Intel's sorry @$$ boost monitor but what can I use in game to tell me that the CPU is actually hitting that 4.7ghz? Thanks.

I don't believe there is a program like that. Unless you have a Logitech keyboard with the LCD screen on it. Then it can display the gadget from your desktop.

Other than that, I don't think you can do it in-game. Just keep CPU-Z up, and task manager on the performance tab, play for a good 15-20 minutes then Alt+Tab out to check them.

best bet is to leave task manager open (or a better replacement such as http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653) and then alt-tab out.

I usually use Resource Monitor and have it and Afterburner open on my second screen.
If you have a single, just open Resource Monitor, and then play the game for a bit, hit alt + tab, and presto!

Afterburner + HWiNFO
Example:

Instead of CPU temp, you can display clock speeds if you prefer.

I installed MSI Afterburner and hwinfo and followed this great video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=folyv5Io-NM

Now I'm all set!
