Looking to switch my netbook to Linux... no Linux experience - Page 2

I agree with Shrak's recommendation of Mint. I recently switched to mint on my netbook. I've tried a large variety of distros on it (Arch, fedora, ubuntu, meego to name just a few) My favorite distro by is Fedora which runs fine on my netbook using LXDE, but Mint has been my favorite distro for my netbook because it's able to gnome 3 without any lag. I did try Ubuntu's netbook version. It ran great on my netbook, but ubuntu isn't my favorite distro. OpenSUSE with KDE also ran well on my netbook, but I didn't really get into that either. So you can compare, my netbook is a Gateway lt2021u with 1GB RAM and a 1.6ghz Intel Atom. Enjoy finding your perfect distro! thumb.gif

Ummm go Ubuntu, they have a tailored UNR just for this.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UNR

It's built just for netbooks.

I think UNR/UNE was axed when they moved to Unity.
