Personally if you are at 1080p i would get a 3gb 580 gtx or a 2.5gb 570 gtx

A good 580 plays any game out there perfectly fine especially after it is overclocked, plus when kepler comes out you can ether sell the one 580 for a loss and upgrade or buy a 580 that was made cheaper by kepler thumb.gif

If you plan to spend close to 500 dollars already why would you spend it on older technology when the new more current technology will be close to the same price or projected price for a fair assumption. Wait for Kelper for spending anywhere north of 500 for a water block and GPU. Most any reference card will have a waterblock made for it.

You, being the person buying the video card needs to be aware of what is and is not reference when it comes time to purchase. That applies for every video card. Whether it is the set of SLI 560's, 570, 580 or 6xx series. Just so you know EK 7970 water block rated among one of the lowest restriction blocks out ATM, it would be a good idea that you see what Kepler offers before you even buy a 5xx or 6xx just to see what performance gains you can get with a water cooled kepler.

So does anyone else agree or disagree with waiting for the Kepler to come out. I wish we had more information on which cards are going to be released next month??????

All indications is Kepler due out March 18-30. GTX 670Ti and being projected greater perfomance than a 580 and 7950 for $300.

Now the perfomance speculation I can belive but the price I find it estimated to low and hard to believe.

NVIDIA Kepler “GK104″ GeForce GTX 670Ti Arrives in March 2012, Performs better than GTX 580 and HD7950

I'd hold off if you can. If not an EVGA GTX 580 3GB Ultra Classified for $549. It can hit a 1000Mhz Core easily.

Personally I'd wait but if your build is ready then waiting four weeks can be an eternity. I'm asumming since your posting in the Nvidia forum an AMD is not optional. Ive had AMD for years and I'm not going back being happier with Nvidia as a personal preference so I could understand.

If you do decide on the 7970 it's a lot of perfomance for $570, very good card. As for the 7950 you can pick up a EVGA GTX 580 1.5GB for $449 currently after MIR for same performance/price without having to switch.

Good luck. smile.gif

Edited to add - Wait I just noticed your monitor is a Samsung 120Hz? Which model number? I ask because with AMD at least you can get the full benefit from AMD HD3D. It's not as good as Nvidia 3D Vision monitors for 3D Vision but you might as well utilize your monitor to it's full potential. If that's the case and you have $600 for the budget then by all means take advantage of the 7970 GPU instead.

i understand going to ATI and everything you can get out of it, but i really am a nvidia fan and plan on staying that way. the monitor that i am using is a SAMSUNG S23A750D which is full 3D which i love.

and i do not mind waiting it just sucks because it seems that i am waiting for everything now. I can use the card now since i have a good setup in my server but i will be using this in my white water build which i am waiting on ivy bridge to be released as well as asus z77 MOBO.

Honestly waiting isn't worth it... heck the 480 is still a nice card.. and maxes everything at 1080 I'd say get a 580 and skip Kepler.

If I'm not mistaken the Samsung SA750 requires a display port connection to be full 120Hz capable and enjoy 3D vision. If that's the case you should go the route of the GTX 570 2.5GB HD card as it comes with a display port.

It's a bit better then the GTX 560Ti 448. I know your not keen on the temp in SLI config but that will yield some great performance.

No knowing just yet if Kepler will but I'm going to say eventually it will have at least one variety with a DP port.
