i945 or nForce better for overclocking?

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
I'm trying to get ideas for a future upgrade, so I'm wondering whether the i945 or the intel nForce is a better oc'ing chipset?

Here's the mobos I'm thinking of.

i945P

(the Vreg heatsink is especially nice)

nForce

Which one would be the best, both feature-wise and stability-wise?
Or does anyone have a better recommendation for around $80? I would be using it to oc a Pentium D 805

n-force sucks for intel overclocking. Never get an nforce. I'd suggest a 965 though, cause it supports conroe. out of the two...defn the 945.

Agreed, the 945 is definatly a better choice. Might not go much higher than the nForce overclocking wise, but it has a chance.

However, I would highly recomend you scrape together a little more $$$ and get this;

GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 Socket T
