most if not all available jobs in the area are all government based, and most if not all require some sort of clearance, that is the hard part. Do you have any type of security clearance? The best thing I would do is apply for an internship at a place that can pay for your security clearance if you plan on working in this area those are most of the jobs. Sometimes they will hire you and pay for the clearance, but it is some outrageous price so they love it when people already have it, as then they don't have to fit the bill, but when you get it you are solid around here. You hear tons of ads on the radio, and i am guessing it is because of this area, they go northrop grumman looking for cleared individuals. CIA even has an ad on the radio too lol, not that hard to get a job with them if you can pass their screening and background checks, but it takes about a year to get hired there for them to do their tests. On the upside its only about 30mins from reston.

once you get clearances alot of contracting firms will want to pick you up and you will work in an out of the cia or other government organization, and they pay good. if you want to get into the cia make sure you have a language, they really want people with languages in there especially people who know middle eastern languages because of the instability and such. btw i think the internship requires a 3.0 or 3.5 and you need the language.

Orbital is the only Place i know of my old engineering teacher worked for them on the pegsus project, i could ask around for engineering firms in the area.
