2500k overclocked and seems to be good so far

So I ran some 12 hour Prime runs on blend and I never peaked over 72 degrees on more then 2 cores!!!!

Settings are as listed

Vcore 1.256
multi: x45
base clock : 100.3 (gives me 100.01 in windows)
4504.9Mhz

So this was the 2nd overclocking session I have done with this chip and by far the best one. Considering I am using a Hyper 212+ I'm happy for now but my only concern is when I go into a gaming session 2 cores peak out at 62c and the others are at 58c, should I try to lower the voltage and run for another 12 hours or would these lower 60c temps not be an issue in the long term?

Temps seem fine, OC more! devil.gif I've gotten mine to 5.0Ghz stable and up to 5.3 for testing and whatnot. biggrin.gif

Lower voltage would be better for temps, so you can try if you want. At least now you have a set point you can work from. Current temps shouldn't be much of an issue if you want to stay where you are.

Voltage is pretty good honestly. But temps are *slightly* high for a Hyper212 in a HAF922 at the low volts. I would honestly try a reseat of the cooler. I would expect, from my research into OCing, about 5 degrees C or so less at those volts.

But temp wise, you are fine for a little more headroom, and volts wise for a lot more.

Are you running Windows 7 Service Pack 1? You should use Intel Burn Test with the AVX instructions to ascertain your highest load temps. Prime95 Small FFT's will not stress your system as hard as IBT w/ AVX (which only works with SP1 in windows 7). You'll find your max temps a good 3-6 degrees higher.

Anyway, if it were me I would make those changes:

a) reseat cooler and attempt a better thermal paste application (with a good thermal paste)
b) download Intelliburn for Win7 SP1 with the AVX instructions
c) assess from this point how much room you have to move with temps/volts.

*Safe* maximums (everyone has different standards) on air, to me, are 1.4v - 1.425v and 75 - 80 degrees C at absolute MAX load ie: IBT +AVX (which should translate to about 10degrees less in gaming, etc)
