360 Radiator Shootout Begins! - Page 6

Yeah, the GT15s CFM is a bit different than your average 25mm fan. That's why I included the little note on the RPM axis GT15=Titan-200-400.

GT RPM is not very representative of most 25mm fan RPMS. Here is a little quick test I recently did to show that:

1500GT RPM could be more like 1900 Typical 25mm fan RPM, etc.
titantrial2.png

Since not everybody uses GT15s, I wanted to test with a fan that is more representative of average CFM/RPM and the Titans do seem pretty average there. Testing with GT15 or 38mm Deltas will skew the RPM scale.

But, that's just an air test, I was thinking of doing some sort of thermal comparison of a couple of fans at the end perhaps to see what the more accurate RPM variations are between your average 25mm fans like the Titans, GT-15s, and 38mm fans. I think it's somewhere between 200-400 RPM though as an approximate scale difference.

The titan's RPM scale I'm using is more of an average 25mm fan RPM scale and GT15 and some 38mm fans will shift that to the left quite a bit.

I'd be curious to see if they perform on par with swiftech. Hell, It'd be nice to know that slim rads preform just as good as thick if not better!
Edit: I see the Koolance rads, but no Black Ice Stealth rads on the wish list. If the Swiftech XP performed so well, I'd like to see the Black Ice ones. Also, have you contacted Mayhems to test their up coming rad? They say they have something hidden up their sleeve...

I have a few slimmer Alphacool rads I'll be testing soon in the 45mm thickness range, but no GTS. I think the XP performs really well because of it's parallel fins, ie no triangles, but that's just a theory..

The CU1020V is essentially the same thing as a BI GTS so just wait on that.

Could be fans, but I also think there is something very beneficial in this parallel fin density:
swiftech-mcr320-xp-04b.jpg?w=614&h=410

Pretty much all the other folded fin designs are triangular air conduits pushing most of the flow to one side or the other. Going parallel offers the most even heat transfer from tubes to air.

I got to dig out my deltas, but I believe they are AFB1212SHE or HE Rev3

Found the Deltas, they are the AFB1212HE Rev3. I can get about 3200RPM on the bench by slightly overvolting.

I just realized I also have three San Ace 109R1212H1011's that'll do 3000RPM. So I've got 6 good 38mm fans I could do a push pull up to 3000RPM test with..thumb.gif

I'll have to see what rpm range my variables are that I use on my GTX's (I believe 800-2400rpm). I usually leave them on 1/2 - 3/4 speed. The only time I crank them up is when I'm benching. My OC'd 920 (40c range) and 470's (50c range) were always happy. Now I'm going with two 480's so well see what happens now.

You need to choose your operating fan range to make that question.

What's odd is that this data contradicts Bundymania's triple radiator review where the Swiftech XP was shown to be amongst the bottom performers even at 1500RPM.

I wonder if a blocked tube/channel in the radiator would affect the results that much?
