Good upgrade for a VW246H?

I have had a ASUS VW246H for some time now and have enjoyed but I would like to purchase a new monitor.

What suggestions do you guys have for a monitor under $500?

What's wrong with the VW246H? Unless there are specific things you'd like improvement on, there's no reason to upgrade. Most monitors are still 1080p or 1200p, and for gaming, you really can't go wrong with the VW246H. Unless you are looking specifically at IPS monitors, but there's no reason (in my mind, at least) to upgrade to an IPS unless you have a need for highly accurate color reproduction and/or very wide viewing angles. A colorimeter (at around $80) will give you better color than you really need (save for graphic design work).

Ok I understand. Can you link me this colorimeter you speak of?

I too have the same monitor and I think the colors look like ****. How can I configure the color settings on my monitor?

This is just one example:

There are really a large number of colorimeters out there. I use a Spyder3 colorimeter, which is a little more expensive at $100 or so, but nothing that breaks the bank if you're looking for something like this. Be aware that there are two sides to the color calibration coin: the colorimeter and the software. Spyder, for example, sells the Spyder3 in a number of different packages, where each package has the same colorimeter but different software with different features.
