Huge win7 issues

Thread Starter
I am having some big issues with win7 x64. I am unable to install most apps, can't install all of my drivers and I can't install service pack 1. windows update is very slow and intermittant. I just reinstalled the OS last night and did a fresh partitioning and formatting. I have a faulty motherboard and faulty hdd which doesn't help matters, that being said they have been faulty for months now while I am waiting on replacements but these install issues never happened before. What should I do?
When you say you can't install most apps, does the installer not even launch or what do you mean? I'm gonna assume the drivers installation also can't be launched? Also.. the faulty MOBO and HDD seems like a big factor in all of this >_<.

I was able to load the installers long enough to get error messages. I got the bulk of the drivers on, I just can't install the peripherals, cant install framework 4 (needed for nero) can install the visual c++ redist. I know the faulty hardware is a factor, just this problems installing things is new whereas I have dealt with the hardware for a while now. Unless over time they get worse and maybe just became totally unusable?

It is typical for devices to eventually fail, especially ones that are already partially damaged. Although you said you are waiting on replacements, a faulty MOBO is a huge issue for stability in the long run, a single bent pin can do damage after some time. As for the HDD, that is also a big issue as eventually the HDD will fail and you will risk losing all your data. Is it an internal HDD?

Also what error messages do you get when installing? And are you installing them from a disk or from the Internet or..?

YEEEEEEP! I know several hard drives that i've encountered got slower and worse the more i tried to access them to recover whatever files i could. Sorry, but this is sounds like a degrading hardware issue, which is of course affecting the software on a certain level.

They are all downloaded, the errors I get are all very different, some saying unavailable, some saying corrupted, some just failed. It is an internal HDD. I have all my important stuff backed up to an external drive. I have replacement HDD's but don't want to install them as I am waiting on mobo and cpu for a new build. The mobo is causing me alot of trouble, especially alot of BSOD's primarily for faulty memory slots.

Also having problems trying to run HDtune, I ran it a while ago and got quite a few errors and warnings and wanted to see if it got worse but it won't scan I click start, it pauses then stops again. I think I am in some big trouble if I cant get my new hardware in soon

It's an unhealthy system, no wonder the software doesn't act as expected.
Get a new mobo and HDD, reinstall, and all should be fine smile.gif

In all honesty, since your HDD is messed it may not be saving the file in its entirety to your HDD. So when you try to install, it is missing files possibly. Like Boinz said, this definitely seems like a hardware error which is resulting in software errors. Did you already order your new parts?

Oh I just read your last post.. it's definitely a hardware issue.

I would just use a linux live usb/cd/dvd if I were you. Its what i had to do when my brothers 320gb WD HDD started dying, but I didn't want him on my computer tongue.gif. So i gave him linux mint and had the mobo boot first from a usb, until i could find time to trouble shoot his computer and then I found about errors via gparted.
