Check and state your temps on here, if you have some spare change get yourself a meter and measure the volts on your psu to see if that is the cause.

Otherwise run furmark/kombuster/heaven to stress your gpu and see if you can use msi afterburner to downclock/downvolt to reduce temps and see if you can get the stressers to run stable.

If don't get anything from this then your forced to warrant and play the waiting game :L

IMO it could also be an unstable overclock. But that PSU should be okay, but then again Power supply do degrade overtime. I say RMA the card and if the problem persists try a different power supply.
post #13 of 17
It is a decent PSU, however, any PSU can go bad for little to no reason. I'd try a different PSU before I RMA'd anything just to be safe. Borrow one from a friend or something.

Like I said, I was having BSOD's during gaming as well and it was my PSU causing it.

If you only have the one PSU and GPU, and would be without a computer if you RMA'd the GPU, I'd try to borrow a PSU from someone and try it out first. If it still does it, it's obviously not the PSU, then move on to the GPU.

What about stock settings, no overclock. And when you say BSOD while gaming, which game in particular? All of them?

My temps are 40 @ idle and like 70-80 while gaming ... I hit up to 95C when folding -advmethod WU's ... my ambient in general is 30C+ ...

If I undervolt from 1.037 (standard) to 1v ... I can run kombustor ... I ran it 5 times perfectly ... started up Stalker CoP and froze ... ... left the voltage at stock and BSOD occurred during my first Kombustor run ...

I am not overclocking my GPU at all ... well I was but only by 50mhz on the core ... but I returned it back 2 standard in January ...

My CPU is 24hr stable with prime @4.8ghz with vcore @ 1.44 ...

I am asking my friends if they have a spare PSU that can run my system (most have old pc's) ... but I really don't think it is my PSU unless I got a "made on a monday" psu ... cause it is less than a year old ...

The BSOD is a guaranteed occurrence while playing, S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Call of Pripyat, BF 3 and on a more random occasion Skyrim ... ... It is more random and a lot less often in the other games I play ... but at the moment they are pretty old games I am replaying thru so nothing that will stress the system much ...

:: EDIT ::

Are there any MSI reps on OCN ??

I didn't think it was my PSU at first either. Seemed strange that my 600W PSU would be lacking to power to run my rig. My issue with it was that I was using a cheap DiabloTek PSU rated for 600W, but obviously not putting that out at all. My problem was almost identical to yours. With the exception that every program I ran said I was only getting not quite 10v on the 12v rail, like 9.83v. Which seemed impossible, and still does.

I'm just saying try a different PSU first to avoid waiting for god knows how long for an RMA on that card if it's not the card. I replaced my PSU with a CoolerMaster I bought from someone here on OCN and haven't had an issue since. I even added a second GTS 450.

Another thing to check would be your RAM. and see if you can get a program to log your codes when you get a BSOD, then next time it happens get the code and do a quick search and see what you find.
