If you just started folding then EOC won't have you in the system yet, give it a few hours or a day after the first work unit you have completed and then try again.

Also please be sure to sign up for the Chimp Challenge, that will get you a name/passkey with a working EOC ID as well. smile.gif

Hi all,

I'm folding for CC using v7 client. I have 2 systems going, i5-2400 @ 3.7 and i7-2600k @ 4.4. The i5 has a 7770 that apparently isn't supported yet and i7 has a 6870 cranking away.

Why on earth is the i5 doing 10-12k ppd and the i7 is doing 7-8k?? And that 7-8k is almost entirely from the 6870 because the i7 is doing 500-800 ppd. Do I need to turn off HT for folding?

I saw a link when I was signing up that dealt with how to get the most out of your system for folding, but i can't find where it is now...

AMD GPUs use up about a whoel thread of CPU when they fold, so the problem is that the GPU is eating up the CPUs time and slowing it down. What would be best is if you could have both of the AMD GPUs in one machine to limit the effect they have to just one CPU. Other wise what you want to do is right click and select finish on the CPU SMP slot, and right click and select pause on the GPU slot, then when the CPU finishes it's current work unit go to configuration, slots tab, click on the CPU SMP slot then click edit, then in the SMP section in the CPUs field change the number from -1 to 6. Once that's done resume folding on both CPU and GPU as normal and the CPU will be only folding on 6/8 threads, leaving two for the AMD GPU to use as it needs.

yea, there are some work units that will fail if folded on an odd number of threads above 3, hence 6. That's why I mentioned it would be best if you could consolidate your AMD GPUs into one rig if you want to fold on them both when the 7770 is supported.

well i've done a bunch of playing and it really disgusts me to say that I get more points with SMP:8 and disabling the GPU all while using far less power...

this is because of i7 + overclock + 6870... if running stock i7 or no HT or a more powerful GPU (especially when 7000 series gets supported), you'll get more points using GPU
