$5,000+ Gaming Rig with MSI Bigbang Xpower2 and 3x40" EYEFINITY, Hopefully EPIC!

Thread Starter
I have been researching building an over the top gaming rig for about 3 months when I decided to go and buy myself a Thermaltake Lvl10 GT Case and then fill it. The more I looked into it the more I realised this is going to be the best I can build for my purposes of full spec eyefinity gaming on 3x40' led tv's. I figure I already have 1 high end LED so why not get 2 more and be done with it? This build will be running by late March and completed by early May all components have been carefully consided for everything from practicality, cost vs performance, aesthetics and WOW FACTOR! lol I will keep this thread updated with pictures and posts as the Beast comes alive! .thumb.gif

This is what the completed build will bebiggrin.gif

Thermaltake Lvl10 GT
MSI Bigbang Xpower 2 Motherboard
Intel i7 3930K Cpu
Corsair Hydro Series H100 CPU Cooler ( top mounted )
G.Skill Ripjaws Z F3-17000CL11Q-16GBZL (4x4GB) DDR3 (get another 4 chips down the track)
Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W Modular PSU
Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SSD ( boot drive )
2TB Black Caviar
2x ASUS Radeon HD7970 DirectCU II 3GB (upgrade to 3 in the future)
BitFenix Spectre Pro 140mm Black Tinted Red LED Fan (rear exhaust)
BitFenix Spectre Pro 120mm Black Tinted Red LED Fan (bottom intake)

DISPLAY

1x SHARP AQUOS 40' LED TV ( front display panel )
2x SONY BRAVIA 40" Full High Definition LED LCD TV KDL40EX520 ( side display panels )

SOUND

Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional PCIe
Sony HTDDW8600 Home Theatre System

This is what I currently have out of this

Thermaltake Lvl10 GT
MSI Bigbang Xpower 2 Motherboard
Corsair Hydro Series H100 CPU Cooler ( top mounted )
Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W Modular PSU
Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SSD ( boot drive )
BitFenix Spectre Pro 140mm Black Tinted Red LED Fan (rear exhaust)
1x SHARP AQUOS 40' LED TV ( front display panel )

As I mentioned over the next couple of weeks i will start to post updated info and pictures until build is totally completed smile.gif

must admit I was temted to wait for IB but picked up the Xpower 2 the otherday and I have no idea on an chip update time for the 2011 socket is the only reason I'm not waiting for it. (must admit this could backfire down the track). When it comes to Keplar the GPU's are the last part of my purchase for the basic system, basically this means I'm getting the CPU and RAM as well as the 2 extra displays first so if Keplar outperforms by any ssignificant amount besides for a basically 25% better or more for an increased cost then I'm in, but to pay more then about $800 AUD per card is not somethin I'm keeen to do.

I hate when people say to wait, unless things are like 1-2 weeks off. 2 months is a LONG WAYS AWAY, and he seems to want multi-gpus and the extra pcie lanes of sandy bridge E will help a LOT.

I don't wanna say this, but bad speakers, monitor/tv choices, and speakers.

Get three 27" 120hz samsung panels if you NEED 1080p, or get 3x30" IPS dell u30's or hp z30's or any other company u want smile.gif.

Secondly for the sound, I'd really recommend getting a sound card, and better speakers. Post in the audio forum for recommendations.

Nice build regardless, have fun!biggrin.gif

fair call!smile.gif thought the onboard 7.1 controller was worth a try has THX support etc. With the monitors was tempted to go for the 3x27 120mhz but like full loungeroom setup and already have one 40' LED and can get the other 2 really cheap:D
Your right about the MB PCI 3.0 x16/x16 and a damn gatlin gun were hard to refuse ( will look awesome through the window of the Lvl10 GT) thumb.gif

Am I seeing things or are you repeatedly stating you have a 40 foot TV?... blinksmiley.gif

Anyways, I personally am waiting for Kepler, couldn't care less about ivy bridge - only quad cores! PFFT! tongue.gif

Otherwise, not bad choices hardware wise thumb.gif ... thought even I wouldn't attempt three TV's for monitors lol. I really think that'd look horrible hahaha, but as they say, different strokes for different folks.

[EDIT]: You MUST put pictures up when you're done... I have to see this. Hahaha.

I cannot agree more that with a rig like that you need a sound card. Why dump that kind of money into a rig and have onboard sound. At the very least get a 50 dollar x-fi sound card. I see so many systems with amazing visuals but crappy onboard sound. Your ears deserve a treat also.

I promise you will hear sounds in games that you have never heard before. And the first time you hear that enemy player trying to sneak up behind you to knife you and you turn and waste him you will wonder how you ever lived with out one.
Worse than crack.
