Hi guys, I currently have 2 rig and laptop but I will be going to boarding school soon and A. 650D is to big B. My laptop is on ebay for it is not that powerful and overheats like crazy. so I need a small micro atx or smaller build thats powerful enough to game on bf3 and such.
Here are the parts I have chosen. If anyone has any advice please help me. Thanks
Case: Its a tie between LIAN LI PC-A04B Black or the SILVERSTONE Temjin Series TJ08B-E
For the Power Supply I picked out the CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX650 650W
For Motherboard I picked out the MSI Z68MA-ED55 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel Z68
For my Cpu I picked out the Intel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 65W
For the Cpu cooler CORSAIR CWCH60 Hydro Series H60 or stock biggrin.gif
Ram: Its a tie between CORSAIR XMS 8GB or CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB + DOMINATOR is really high so It might not work with some Cpu coolers.
For Gpu's I got the Refurb EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1557-RX GeForce GTX 550 Ti Going to put these in sli.
For Hard Drive I got 1 Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB which is more than enough storge.
Extra's CORSAIR CMXAF1 Ram Fans and some blue led fans which i'm still picking out.

The gpu's cost 200 so maybe I'll just get 1 gtx 560 ti. Any advice would be great:P Thanks

Go for the Silverstone... why? Because I love the case, I wanted to build a mATX in it a number of times. better fan options, black inside, (needs window) I love the lay out better and top it all off with filters for the fans. thumb.gif

Go with a different board.

WAY better board and highly recommended
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131806

$10 more... WAY better board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128503

Cheaper... still a better board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188096

what is your budget?

Why not go with a 2500k/2600k? or if you don't OC get a 2500 or 2600 (none K)

H60 is a great cooler just make sure it will fit in the case

if you aren't getting at least a 2500k CPU don't bother getting the DOMINATOR RAM. DOMINATOR RAM is for those CPUs and OC

I would get a 560 Ti over he 550 thumb.gif

K well I don't know how close you are to it but I don't think $10 to $20 should keep you from getting a much better board... ASUS has a much much nicer UEFI BIOS and you will thank me later thumb.gif

Other thing I would recommend is getting a SSD thumb.gif

If micro is your style, look in to the ASUS Gene Z:

And like nickbaldwin, why not go for a 2500k? The i3 is good, but the 2500k 'tis better for the games

I say go even smaller! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112265 I see someone got a 9800gtx to fit in there. Also, I hear that BF3 likes to use a lot of vRam so one of the new HD7950s would be great http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150590 Also, you would probably want to upgrade to something a little more powerful than the i3 for this build. It's just a suggestion so here is a full build-out thumb.gif

Forgive me for saying this but your build is unbalanced,

First you dont need a corsair H60 for a corei3 2120 that is non overclockable, the stock heat sink is enough, if you want a watercooled procie pick core i5 2500K pair it with antec kuhler 620 add a high performance fan in push/pull intake configuration, because antec 620 performed like a corsair H70 in dual fan mode

2nd the corsair xms has good low profile height bad thing is its 1.65V choose a 1.5V ram which produce less heat, & the dominator has 1.5V the problem is its high profile heat spreader which will conflict the hdd cage of silverstone temjin. choose a g.skill arez low profile dual (2x4gb) ddr3 1600 CL9

3rd the motherboard msi z68 ma e55, notice the pcie slot at fourth slot is not good for SLI, since most 550ti is dual slot it will have conflict with the psu, & its configuration x16 x4 is not good for SLI it should be x16 x8 or x8 x8. choose an asrock z68 pro3-m has a single pcie slot only but pick a gtx 560 ti 448 cores for the gpu no need to SLI.

4th your 650W gold is overkill for 550ti or 560ti, for 550ti choose 450~500W 80+ or 560ti choose 500~550W 80+ certified. the seasonic S12II or M2II 520W 80+ bronze is capable of 550 watt output upto 600W peak.

5th for all the saving on above add a 60GB SSD (OS only) or ~120GB SSD for the OS & games & apps and add a 500GB for storage hdd.

6th for a gpu get a decent 560ti or 560ti 448 cores , I recoomend EVGA gtx 560ti 448 core classified edition performed like a gtx 580 at overclock settings..
