Well maybe I get the Titan case from Antec with a 550W PSU.. that MAY be enough for a single 8800GTS

I've heard from many places that the card on load will be nearly 300W.

Thats 150W per connector, and it makes sense.

If they recommend 800w for slis thats 300+300=600. Leaves 200W for the processor,mobo,dvd drives,fans,sound card, hard drives. Which isnt enough for most gamers.

With a 1000W PSU it would give you 400W to power all the other parts in your system. Which should be enough.

All of the 1000W PSUs out now PEAK at 1100w. Those are the PSU you will need for SLI.

Those are all the right figures for SLI... but what about non-SLI single cards...which seems to be what OCZedd and I will want to do

The Sonata II comes with 450W.. will that be enough? Will 500 to 500W be enough?

I'm still deciding which case to get and hopefully I won't have to purchase an additional PSU to power everything but rather would prefer to keep the one that comes with it.

Note: I just realized OCZedd also has this case

I won't have one of those power hungry MF-ers. I will keep my eyes open for a 7900 card when the price comes down

Well, if one card uses 300W, I would say you would need about 550w and even then it'd be VERY close..

I would probably say about 600-650W for 1 card. That leaves 300-350w for all the other parts.

You don't want to put 500W on a 500W PSU either, you always want about 150W or more not being used, atleast thats what i've been told.

anything below 550W I would definitely say it won't be enough, and thats IF the retail card takes 300W

Yes you have to consider that it can take 10-15% more power when booting up (even if for a few seconds)

I think going with a case that comes with a PSU and getting a second PSU might be a better idea than getting an expensive case + PSU

Going with the PSU that comes with a case it 95% of the time a bad idea.

I understand it won't be enough power... but I feel like I'm wasting money on the PSU if I get a case with a PSU...

Maybe I can get a good PSU and shop around locally for a cheap case?

I could keep my current case but it's falling apart, ugly and 400W PSU (with 20A on the 12 V rail)
