[PCGamer] Dice rebuilding BF3 with massive patch - Page 11

Just finished playing for a few hours. Nothing negative to say. So much whining here though.. If you don't like it don't play. It will be interesting to see how these fixes turn out. I was a die hard BF2 fan before but life goes on and so do games.. BF3 is a great game. So...get used to it because that's what we've got! Be thankful EA / DICE bring out these updates. Keep those developers busy and employed! New games present a new set of challenges and you have to adjust. Stop living in the past! wink.gif

I wish they had actually implemented full building destruction and damage like they had indicated at the very beginning. I don;t really care about all the weapon changes people will just move to what is now considered the best weapon.

We need a way to communicate to the brainless masses.
The ones that could not be bothered to install voice chat software.
People that just ignore you because there lazy, and they can.

If guys could communicate and give these guys some leadership.
This game would not feel like such a headless chicken.

This game requires communication and teamwork.
Most guys can't accept this. There used to being the hero.
They don't need your help. Let alone a whole squads.

Don't need to wonder why every server you get into has one team beating down the other.
One team is working together, this gives them a monster advantage over the team that's not.

Damn finally a step in the right direction IF it gets released. Last I remembered they've been promising major patches for a while now.

Yup pretty much this. Sometimes you get into a team and just destroy the other team by sticking with your squadmates. And sometimes you join a team where theres only 4 people in a squad, and you just cant seem to be able to do anything.

September - during the beta they said the retail version will have push-to-talk VOIP
October - Retail version did not have this feature, they said will work on it ASAP and it will come in the NEXT patch

fast forward 4 months - nothing yet

Oh and one more heads up about the VOIP fix on the PS3 version....

It has greatly increased the teamwork aspect of the game.

Wow, does that even make sense???

Teamwork = Communication

I support stuff like this:
  • 9x39mm rounds no longer benefit from the Sniper headshot bonus.
  • Fixed 12g FRAG rounds not breaking glass at long range.
  • Players can now earn the shotgun Ribbon using the M26 MASS
  • Fixed the 40mm smoke grenade so it no longer passes through soldiers and unbroken objects before it detonates.
I do not support things such as this:
  • Zooming shotguns with Buckshot and Flechette loads will now result in a slightly tighter cone for the pellets.
  • DAO-12: Reduced the total pellets fired from 12 to 9. The DAO-12 has a high magazine capacity with a slow reload that makes it a solid all around shotgun.
  • The IGLA and Stinger now lock on much more quickly and disable an attack aircraft in 1 hit, but have significantly reduced range. This should allow Stingers to mount an effective close range point defense, without dominating an entire airspace
  • Disabled vehicles now have an increased reverse speed to help escape to cover after being disabled.
  • Reduced the damage AA guns (both mobile and stationary) do to infantry.
^^^^^^^ ***?! ^^^^^^^^
So... amongst dozens of other things... AA guns will do LESS damage to infantry magically now... cause that's totally how war works.
Disabled vehicles become faster going backwards the moment to mess them up badly.
Stinger missile launchers are now fair as declared by the whining of pilots because a single solider with his boots on the ground killing a jet with a weapon system designed for exactly that task is unfair. (Don't get me started on the flares... 1 hit at close range out of 12shots in a match)
I see that dice decided to remove pellets from our 12g rounds to compensate for them working... forbid a shotgun have range or damage let alone both. Also trying to figure out the logic of looking down the barrel to make the cone of fire for the pellets magically adjust........
BF3 is not a military sim and never was. The changes being implemented are purely for game balance.
