Hmmm... wouldn't want to call EA liars, but that all seems unlikely, unless Valve were offering more stringent terms to EA, than others. Example: Guild Wars has a cash store and doesn't offer any of that content through Steam. I've also seen games on Steam that use their own launchers to handle updates, rather than Steam. It's not common or even particularly desirable, but there doesn't seem to be a rule against it.

I think EA were more concerned Steam would inhibit their ability to own the end user.

Valve are simply trying to milk EA for more money. It really is as simple as that. Don't blame them either.

All I want is more maps and the battlerecorder, people who say the game is broken etc are taking it too far.

I'm pretty much in agreement. New maps, some glitch related fixes and perhaps a couple of weapon balance tweaks. For the most part I really enjoy the game.

One thing I would love to see resolved is claymore spamming. Why a support guy can endlessly refill his claymore supply (and they remain after he dies). Some of the tighter maps, support players will literally place them everywhere. There should be a limit (like 1...) for the support class. 9 times out of 10 its a guaranteed free kill.

The fact that claymores sometimes don't show up on the mini map makes it even more frustrating.

Also sniper class on vehicle heavy servers is pretty much an exercise in frustration. Unless you are happy to spend the round using SOFLAM (which leaves you horribly vunerable), it gets pretty boring trying to pick off players that are sprinting for the nearest tank.I get the whole class balance thing but really only 2 classes can directly damage vehicles. If there weren't so many vehicles floating around the larger servers it wouldn't be so bad (Bad Company 2 for example that had only a couple on each side).

Also it is really tough to get one shot kills with the sniper rifles. I believe I read they are going to tweak sniper damage which would be nice.

Giving C4 back to the Snipers would be a relief. Heck they can take the TUGS and SOFLAM etc and give it to another class. Just give me something to do when there are 3-4 tanks rolling by me. Assault is balanced enough that it's not such a big deal.

Also, I don't think I've had a single successful kill with a Javelin against an aircraft (helicopter or jet). They seem to be able to fire chaff faster than I can reload. The rare hit I get doesn't seem to even disable them. Helicopters seem to be more fragile but that may be inaccurate. What is the point of having surface to air weapons if they can't hit and when they do, the damage is negligible?

The only way to really hammer aircraft is with mounted guns on vehicles. This is fine I guess if you like to sit in vehicles hoping a helicopter strolls by...

If you had GTX580s i would have believed you. GTX580 do provide less stutter then HD 6970 but not GTX570s.

I dunno I have to disagree with pretty much all your points

While on small maps claymores might be annoying, on large maps they are almost useless. Taking away the ability to replenish claymores on large maps would make it completely useless.

The sniper shouldnt be able to directly kill vehicles, he is a sniper. Also one shotting snipers would completely ruin the game, it would just make it a big campfest. Keep headshots the only way to oneshot. I would rather have a few good snipers in a round than a bunch of noob snipers going for the oneshot and not attacking points.

The soflam is also extremely useful and is what makes the javelin awesome, you can shoot down planes and choppers with that and kill all kinds of vehicles very quickly. Also smoke and flares do not work on soflam javelin combos, unfortunately many snipers do not use this as they are only concerned about their kills and not teamwork. They should give way more points to snipers for soflam kills, 10 points per kill is pathetic. Also the soflam does not leave you horribly vunerable just put in a spot away from you and control it remotely. When you see a vehicle aim the soflam at it remotely and go back to sniping.

You can aim the SOFLAM remotely?
