Potential Zotac GTX560ti 448 upgrade

Thread Starter
Hi everyone

First off, my apologies for instantly ,after registering, making a thread. I couldn't find the general thread about the 448's, only the OC one.

Current situation:

CPU: Phenom II - X4 955
Motherboard: Gigabyte 790xt-ud4p
Ram: 4gb Valueram
PSU: corsair 620w
GPU: ATI radeon 4870 (1gb)

Needless to say, my GPU isn't really getting things done, so I want to upgrade.
The problem with me buying computer hardware is that I want to get a substatial boost in performace, so I went to google and typed in: "4870X2 upgrade" so I could make sure I would at least double my performance. Now, most forum threads I stumbled upon said that the GTX560ti usually performs the same compared to the 4870X2 but it uses less power, heat, gets DX11 etc... so to be sure its apparently best to aim for something above the 560ti.
Quick rant (Click to show)
I find this a bit odd, since I bought my "upper segment" 4870 (which you can compare to a 6950 in terms of segment positioning) back in 2009 for about € 120,- (new) so now, to get double the performance, I actually have to pay double the price? ^^

Anyway:
The webshop I normally shop at has the GTX560ti 448 for € 250,- which is a very good price for my region. GTX570's start at € 300,- so the price difference vs performance is pretty substantial imo.

Questions:
  1. Will the Zotac AT LEAST double my performance?
  2. Is my PSU good enough to eventually crossfire those? (if I can ever find another one wink.gif)
  3. Is Zotac a reputable brand (any users here?)
  4. After doing a bit of research, I believe there aren't any reference design 448's, but do there exist some type of 3rd party coolers like the Arctic one's? (on photos the yellow/gold looks a bit kitchy)

Any advice is appreciated.

Well, I'm new to building PC's and what not but I can tell you that my MSI Twin Frozr 560ti 448 is absolutely amazing. I can run BF3 and Skyrim on ultra no problem if that helps at all.

I've wanted to do that. But the second hand market, where I live, isnt that great. And new, a gtx 480 still costs about as much as a gtx 570 :/.
