While Apple is still stuck at 3.5", I'm getting a 5.3" Super Phone.
There's a part of me that screams "Oh yeah!", but I don't think it'll actually be practical for me to have such a large smartphone. I couldn't say without using it for a time. But congrats on it anyway, it looks pretty awesome.

For what I do every day, this mini tablet will suit me well.

I held out on upgrading to the Nexus, and I'm still not convinced if the Note is the 1, with all those Quad Cores around the corner...

Sweet thumb.gif

What I'm really looking forward to is the Cortex A15 whether dual-core or quad-core. I actually think a dual-core A15 will be more useful right now than a quad-core A9.

You know, I find these Smartphone and Tablet wars pretty entertaining. I just don't see why ppl make such a big fuss out of it and why they argue about "Mine is better and bigger than yours". If you prefer Apple, Samsung or whatever, it's your own choice. It comes down to what you want to do with it. These are all great products and packs a ton of awesome stuff, I just prefer Apple. Calling ppl iSheeps or whatever name because they like something(not on this thread though) is kinda childish in my eyes...

While it was temporary (the 4S's release saved Apple's ass from remaining #2) it has already happened and is evidence enough that it CAN happen.

Lolllll and BARELY.
http://www.intomobile.com/2012/01/27/apple-sneaks-samsung-become-1-smartphone-maker/
1) Apple only sells 1 smartphone. Samsung sells at least 10. Selling 37 million 4S' is far more impressive than selling 36.5 million across 10 different models
2) Apple's sales are in fact, actually sales, not just units shipped to resellers or their own stores, unlike Android manufacturers
3) Samsung no longer reports actual sales, so 36.5 million is an estimate, albeit it can go either way

It's inevitable that Apple will lose their top spot though, because they don't sell multiple models.

I was aware of your points but that was aside from the point I was making; Kikko was saying that no matter what competitors do they'll be "2nd place" next to Apple and I was just prodding him with the fact that Samsung was on top until the 4S released.

1: Yes, Samsung sells probably ten times more phones, but don't get carried away. The S2 alone has sold 20 million phones in 9 months. At the end of September it reached 10 million, so in 4.5 months it sold another 10 million, about 1/3rd of their quarterly earning came from one phone.

2: Never thought any other way.

3: Correct, as of ~July 2011, Samsung claimed they would not report phone sales data. However, Samsung THEMSELVES have sold 20 million+ S2s to the carriers. Whether the carriers have actually sold that many to their customers we don't know, but I can't see it being far off. Does it matter? The carriers obviously know there is demand for their phone. Samsung's customers aren't quite the end-users. It would be cool if Android automatically sent statistics to Google when a "unique" phone with Android was activated using IMEI, etc. and Google had a graph with real-time updates.

Hum... Maybe you pay too much attention to Apple then.

Anyways, not so good ad. We're not that stupid, it's an obvious set up.

Ah right, gotcha. Eh, 20 million for the S2? That's pretty good.

3) True, true, and yes that would be cool.

Unsurprisingly, the answer is as AFAIK, you cannot.

Not that I really bother, set the zoom on whatever browser you use (ex opera at 300% or on stock at close), and at 800p, I hardly use pinch to zoom. But I hardly browse the interwebs unless its OCN, which I might add is quite pleasant to browse.

If you read a lot, then its fun to use the device.

From what you've said about your needs, I agree, the Note is not a device you'd want to use. It fills a very niche community, its not for everyone. I will say that people shouldn't bash it so much, and love it in its own right, a properly done 5.3" device, with decent battery life, good performance, 800p SAMOLED screen, and 4G connectivity. I take everything else as extra.

Like I said earlier, not an experience everyone wants, and it isn't a productivity power house (then again, what phone is). If you look past the marketing bs and what not, and stop to just look at the facts I stated above, it is a good phone, and should be respected as such. I'm not saying you directly need to respect this device, just that a lot of the hate in this thread, is ignorant hate from people who have never used the device ( i am not saying you're one), with comments like ITS TOO BIG, when really, its not. But thats a matter of opinion, personally I want a phone thats 5.7", but thats me. I don't have trouble holding the phone, but thats just me. I am quite used to this hate as a veteran iphone owner, and just bs android users spout without ever using an iphone. But, judge the phone ONCE you've used it, not based on some crappy paper specs, which do it no justice.

All in all, its just a member of the SII family. As I told my dad with his SII EPIC 4G touch, its exactly his phone, except increase the size of the screen and resolution.

I say, if you have not already, try the phone if you can. See if a friend has it and "rent it out" or go to a store and use it for a good half hour (like I did with the GNEXUS at a VZW store).

I wish you all the best in your future phone endevors, there are quite a few great phones releasing, I hope you find what you're looking for.

EDIT: as someone who's used a Palm treo and other devices with resistive touch screens a lot, IT IS NOT like them what so ever. This is not the 90's you ignorant blokes, check the phone out and use it before you start slamming it (this is an impersonal you, not addressed to you in the least Dream Killer)
