I've even seen the ones for the iPad.

They're awful.

Not all these phones have a digitizer from wacom,

and can create such works

as

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS9_d5XYW7g

vs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDueAILZs4M

and I searched for awhile, most just showed how a stylus works as a finger replacement, not for drawing.

so, it really is no comparison. I specially designed 5.3" phone built around the use of a stylus, vs. a 3.5" screen, with various.... terrible alternatives.

Those Mac commercials are really funny, they are based on half-truths and unfairly exploit weaknesses in Windows machines, but they really work well. Apple's iPhone and iPad commercials are also very good, they at least market the device as a revolutionary one, and it's to a point where it can send shivers up your spine. Samsung + Google may finally be getting it (but are still far behind), HTC and Moto, are you guys even trying?

If I roll my eyes any harder they are going to fall right out of their sockets.

Last I checked, HTC had the biggest Android market share. And look, same goes for the WP7 market share. http://www.wantchinatimes.com/news-subclass-cnt.aspx?id=20111202000072&cid=1204

HTC doesn't have to "try". The EVO 4G was a huge success, same with the Droid Incredible, same with the EVO 3D, etc. As far as brand recognition, "EVO" is only behind "Droid" (generic Android term), I'm almost certain. On top of HTC's momentum, "Beats Audio" isn't hurting their sales any. And the funny thing, HTC doesn't have the fastest Android phones - they don't need bleeding-edge dual-cores and 5" screens to sell phones. Throwing useless specs at phones isn't working so well for Motorola.

Why don't you just guess? Oh I know, you already know the answer.

Of course I watched the video, and that's why I called it absurd. The "my phone can't do that" statements started almost as soon as the video, what she should have been saying is, "I don't know how to do that", not "my phone can't do that", because the iPhone can do every one of those things (just not the same way in the case of drawing directly on the screen), and that combined with the ridiculous repetition of that "my phone can't do that" statement, as well as the "I'm so depressed now", and other baloney, causes me to believe that it's entirely fake. No surprise there though.

I was talking about advertising, HTC and Moto aren't even trying when it comes to advertising.

HTC sells phones based on gimmicks. The EVO was popular because of Sprint's 4G, which dropped constantly, had poor hand-off, was slow, sucked battery, and wasn't available in many places. It broke down the 4G and 4.3" screen wall, yes I'll give you that, but it was all marketing. The EVO 3D is even worse, don't even get me started. What a useless phone...The Rezound isn't too bad, but again Beats is literally worthless, nothing but a glorified DSP manager. That's not to say that Beats hardware is worth anything, because it's not, but still.

But I agree with you, Motorola needs a kick in their tail. I think that's what Google is doing after giving Sanjay the boot today...

This video looks extremely cheesy and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was fake. Not that finding a bubbly woman in city streets is impossible, but her reactions just seemed so blatantly obvious. Like for example, at around 2:05 she taps the phone a few times in a motion that looks as if she was poking someone in the nose rather than actually paying attention to and using her device, then she smiles and says "this is not working out for me!." Her expression of unimaginable shock at every single feature in the video looks a little questionable too, to say the least.

is it sooo hard to believe that it was FAKE?

Seriously? Same goes to you. I wish there was a way to slap someone through the internet.

Before the "modern" smartphone, people used their smartphones as mobile PCs. At least I did. Sure, the interface wasn't as smooth as stuff is today, but I was quite productive with my Windows Mobile PDA and phone years back. Jotting down a quick note with a mixture of picture and text was also pretty useful.

Seriously though, have you never used a smartphone for anything productive? Although Apple doesn't really advertise their phones as productive devices, but as fun toys, and everyone else is out to fight for the same market. I guess you only know about the new breed of smartphone made for entertainment instead of work.

Oh rly? How about linking to a review of someone actually drawing, instead of messing around with the wrong stylus...

What can even a DIY cheapo stylus do?

Nothing in the OP's video couldn't of been done with this.

What I do not understand with OCN...

When people have something positive to say about Apple, they always have to prefix their positive remark with "I hate Apple, but..."
