Arctic Accelero Coolers

Thread Starter
So this is my current GPU:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-273-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752

I'm looking to try and make it more quiet, as it's by far the loudest fan in my system, so I've been looking at Arctic's aftermarket coolers.

Are Arctic GPU coolers any good?
How will it compare to my current cooler?

Specifically, I'm looking at this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-cooling-Accelero-TURBO-DCACO-V540000-BL/dp/B005FYCFG8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I288YFEFX3AUJV&colid=ZIOJXL8W314O

I'm also looking to add 2 Noctua NF-F12's to cool the GPU area of my case, as I've noticed that my GPU will throttle down to 725MHz from 840, when it goes above around 75 degrees.

Thanks for any advice.

They are very good, will make a big difference in temps and noise. The question is which one is best for a 6950, I'm not sure.

Yes side intake fans help when the GPU has external heatpipe(s)

Thanks for the reply.

I'll be adding the fans before the new cooler.

Here are the Arctic coolers compatible with the 6950:

http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/assistant/vga/chip/3

Any ideas on which one is best?

Thanks again.

The triple fan coolers are the best, but quite expensive I say go with the arctic cooling twin turbo II, since its cheaper :S.
The application of the paste is pretty easy and everything goes together easily.
I recently got that and my 6970 went from 85+ load to no more than 70. and idles at 44 instead of 60.

The Twin Turbo II definitely has the best price/performance ratio. I'm using it with my 6970 and I love it smile.gif

That looks like an epic idea, but I think I'd rather stick with air at this point tongue.gif

I think I'm gonna go with the Twin Turbo II then biggrin.gif

Got a few more questions:

Does it come with everything I'll need?
Does it still only take up 2 slots?

Thanks

1 Yes, it includes everything you need. The only thing you may want to buy is thermal tape, in case you'd like to use it instead of the supplied thermal glue. I used the glue and it worked ok.

2 No, it takes about three slots now.

Is using the thermal tape easier/better?

Also, does anyone know how the Accelero compares to Twin Frozr or Gigabyte's Windforce?

The Accelero is much cooler, according to the Hardocp review, the Windforce version can reach 56c @ load while my 7970 (1230/1600 1117mv) with the Accelero stays between 40-45c depending on the game/stress test.

But since installing the Accelero its a pain in the ass, i would get a Gigabyte Windforce.
