intel i5 2300 @ 6537.08mhz?????

Hey guys big question huge concern.

I have a ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z mobo
2x4gb Vengeance
2x ASUS 560 OC (850mhz)
and finaly my Intel i5 2300 (2.8ghz)

I recently ROG connected my mobo to my laptop and overclocked my CPU

I multiplied by 33 and set the voltage to 1.25v

as well i changed the BCLK/PCIE to 104.00

BUTTT i opened Core Temp 1.0 and my Frequency keeps jumping from x16 to x33 (normal) but its at 198.09 giving me 3169.49mhz and 6537.08mhz depending on what x## it is..

What scares me is why is this at 6.5GHZ!!! would one assume its the software CORE TEMP prob?

Or did somethins happen with the cores comming and reading as one or something odd like that?

only new install recently was the 295.73 (i think) for the latest GPU 560 driver download.

I was fairly dang certain i would of thought instant fry... or something. but overclocking and quad core dealo is kinda new to me still. never new if it was just some werid core combined deal or something. safe to say its probably just at 104.00x33 with 1.25v sound safe enough?

Might need to update the bios. Would good to check what version you have then hit up ASUS's website and see what the latest is.

there is no way in hell that this is possible. validate it on cpu-z and then i might consider believing you.

You shouldn't touch the BCLK on Sandy Bridge CPUs.

you've found the golden chip. Hahahhaaha no all seriousness mate, there is something wrong. Leave the BCLK on 100 and overclock using the multiplier.

It's a 2300 I5...no multi love, only max turbo multiplier.
To the OP: Add a bit of bclk and that might net you some more mhz.
And regarding the 6.5ghz, a cpuz validation would be fun, but it's most likely a problem with your Bios version or probes.

dang i should of just for the ****s n giggles of it, computer froze during a gaming session while core temp was giving me that (what i think false) data of 198x33 ever since then the core temp is reading my 104*33 like i have my laptop set.... i hear i should leave my BCLK alone though for the sandy bridge, why would that be? would the 2500k be better for the BCLK overclock?
