Well everyone I need a Really Budget gaming PC for my Brother

Thread Starter

I want to build my brother a Gaming PC because honestly he is going through a hard time & cannot afford to to get a PC to game on so I have decided that I really want to start gaming with him so I need a Budget minded gaming PC that will NOT be Overclocked. Here is what I need & what I got. I am trying to get him into WoW. I am thinking a 960T will suffice. Must be a quad cpu

I have a XFX 6850 1GB video card that I will be using for the build so I need (CPU, Mobo, Ram, HDD)

I have everything else  I just need what is listed above. Remember Budget friendly with no OC.

just get an APU. my brother has the 3850 and can pretty much play any game on high or highest settings. with APU's you want to make sure you get the fastest memory you can. that will benefit the video the best

He has a 6850 for it. I was thinking something like a 960T with a decent board and a 8GB kit that's around 30$, since it won't be overclocked.

Something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157280 with a 960T and with that 6850.

See if you can hunt down a drive for cheap, and a decent 8Gb kit can be had for 30$

for the total your looking at around 350.00

the PHY ram I personaly use and it is easy to oc to 1600 if you ever wanted to
post #7 of 11

I wouldn't bet on the PNY RAM you listed OCing to 1600 because 1333Mhz CL9 DIMMs are binned/specced "generic" - i.e. that big step down in binning that may prevent them from even reaching 1600.  You can get a better-binned DDR3-1600 kit for less than both that PNY kit and the generic G.Skill kit, WITH a free 8GB memory card on top: LINK

Because ICs are often grab bagged with generic memory (being the lowest end RAM standards, ICs that may not have any significant overclocking capabilities may be used) there's really no way to get the guarantee.  Now, with the kit I suggested, you can get that guarantee of DDR3-1600 operation which can contribute to a considerable increase in ref clock OC flexibility, for less price - AND with a free 8GB memory card.  Considering that there's hardly if any a difference between choosing between different RAM brands because most all of them offer lifetime warranties in any case, It's a much better choice, undeniably.

well for a " grab bag menory" a lifetime warrenty isent half bad
