I have to view this as a breach of indivdual privacy by anyone that can operate a drone. Because that is simply what they are made to do, to watch things with time and patience that a human alone can't overcome.

But there is a positive view to this, drones fitted with not human observation equipment, but something like seismic detectors and possibly weather detecting equipment to make very accurate and in real time weather conditions nearly anywhere in the world. It could also be used to save people. So it has a few diffrent courses it can take, but as yet which will be it's dominant role that it will be used under.

Legislation passed by Congress last week gives the Federal Aviation Administration until Sept. 30, 2015, to open the nation’s skies to drones.

The first step comes in 90 days when police, firefighters and other civilian first-response agencies can start flying UAVs weighing no more than 4.4 pounds, provided they meet still-to-be-determined requirements, such as having an operator on the ground within line-of-sight of the drone and flying it at least 400 feet above ground.

This is just ridiculous, huge breach of privacy.
