SLI is Nvidia's dual card system, Crossfire is how ATI cards link up.....both are similar in that they use 2 cards to share the work and a bridge links the two. Nvidia uses a bridge inside the case from card to card.....ATI currently uses a link cable externally on the back, however I heard that the new ATI cards may go to an internal bridge. There are a few minor deifferences as they are from different companies....

However, with the 6.9 drivers the P5B Deluxe is supposed to be able to run Crossfire as well.......though I haven't tried it.

I understand now, thanks for the info.

Looks like I will have to do more research on this

I just found this article, check it out!

However I have the latest Catalyst drivers and my ATI control center doesn't show the Crossfire section like this one?

I just found this also:

This is quoted from my MO BO owners manual.

1. Primary PCI Express x16 slot.

2. Universal PCI-E slot (max. x4 mode)
This motherboard also supports a Universal PCI-E slt with a maximum speed of 2 GB/s. The operating frequency of this slot changes, depending on the type of PCI Express card you install.

OPTIONS:

Auto: automatically optimizes performance according to devices installed.

x4 mode (fast): User gets the best performance but this mode disables the PCI Express x1 slot.

x2 mode (compatible) Always runs PCI Express x2 speed.

Update your BIOS to 0706 if you haven't already, and be sure you set the second PCIe slot to 4x in the BIOS. That should work. Also, it might not display the option to go Crossfire unless you actually have a second card plugged in IIRC.....

Check the news posts, slade posted the new 711 bios. It has the Crossfire function in the Bios options under PEG link.
