My AMD CPU is always on 100% - Why is this? - Page 3

Why not full scan? I would. i'd also run ad-aware and whatever anti-virus you have. it may be overkill, but it's bound to find and remove most issues.
Agreed. Run Malwarebytes full scan plus an active antivirus. If anything is still running do a RUN>MSCONFIG and tell it not to start with windows. Then restart and you should be in the clear. Unplug your internet if problems still arise and see if that lowers the proc usage. If that stops it then I would say a format is in order.

Download MBAM. Rename the MBAM.exe file in program files (some malware is able to recognise MBAM by its name and block it.)
Update it. Reboot. Go into safe mode - F8 at boot. Scan everything.

If it doesn't find any malware, it should be fairly safe to say it's not malware although you can't be 100% sure, MBAM isn't perfect on a deeply infected system.

If the problem persists, use msconfig to disable all non-MS services (except your anti virus) and auto booting programs.

If the problem persists THEN you could consider a format and reinstall of Windows.

Also a very good way to scan for malware is to use a Linux based scanner for Windows like... ClamAV. I've had my linux install infect windows several times. Simply because I didn't know there was any malware on it, since it doesn't do anything on Linux but on Windows it does.

So I should scan both partitions?

EDIT: So is a new SSD necessary? If so any suggestions?

Yes. Linux could contain virusses that you'll have no way to notice since they won't harm your linux OS in any way, but on Windows they could be harmful.

I just cannot seem to see the Liunx Partition. I have Linux ubuntu 11.10 and have no drive letter assigned to it.

Do any of you know any good antivirus software that I could use? I had AVG Security but it wasn't that good.

Avast Free (google it)

and MBAM for on demand scans. You can not scan the linux partition from windows if it is a linux filesystem format, you've got to scan it inside Linux or, you could skip it but it could potentially have Windows malware on it.
