[TV] Microsoft turns to 'smoked by Windows Phone' for its latest warlike advertising

"You asked. We listened," says Microsoft, introducing the company's latest approach to Windows Phone marketing, a nod to its Windows Phone fans who have requested better ads. The software giant is struggling to win solid market share for its Windows Phone devices, and faces stiff competition from the likes of Google and Apple — who are both eating away customers and mindshare from Microsoft products and services. Microsoft's feeling the heat, and the company has started to bare its teeth in recent months.

Didn't they do this back in CES?

It's a really great platform, I'm debating a WP or Android... not sure...

Though, looking at it.

It's not that it's faster in spec, it's just that there are shortcuts embedded to it. I'm pretty sure Android has a shortcut to quickly share your pictures as soon as you take one.

The majority of Windows Phones are in fact less powerful then the majority of Android phones. But from what I've seen with my friends who have a mix of both, the Windows Phone runs just as smoothly on lower hard ware.

Kind of like how consoles can be optimized for specific hardware and run much better then the equivalent hardware in a PC. That's just my opinion and I'm sure it's much more than that, but I find it's a simple way of explaining it.

Android is 1-touch upload to facebook too...I don't see how an Android device should lose to WM for that test...unless the camera app isn't readily available on a homescreen.

Well, to be fair, WP has everything integrated into it.

And yes, most of devices are slower in terms of raw power but since it uses hardware acceleration, it beats most of them in usability and smoothness.

I moved from iOS > Android 4.0 to WP 7.5 and Mango is my new favorite OS, I though it will be boring with those tiles, boy was I wrong. Neither the pics nor videos do the justice, you have to try it live.

I have an Android phone and the thing it severely lacks is fluidity like iOS and WP. I wish there were more WP with better specifications though.

ICS is very smooth, even on older phones(like my Captivate when I had it), and I had mine set up for gesture shortcuts and tight integration with the services I used...one swipe and I could snap a picture and share it with two touches. The hardware acceleration in ICS probably accounts for a lot of that.

ICS wasn't fluid for you? Even on a phone that wasn't technically supported(Captivate), ICS was very smooth.
