Subbed.

Hopefully everything gets straightened out with Newegg / EVGA and you don't have to suffer too many more headaches.
This is such an epic build!!! Love the lightsaber!!!! drool.gif

So, ultimately, I'm left with another disappointing experience with EVGA.

Basically, I called...I mean in, 7/8 years of being in this business and dealing with them on a corporate level, I've never encountered a bent pin, myself, let alone multiples, ever...Even at the processing level, I think we only had 5/6 instances...So, this is very new to me.

Basically, they told me I'd have to pay retail if they couldn't fix the problem...Which, I didn't pay retail in the first place...When they "investigated", I have yet to hear back...

The 3 pins, also, aren't in a row or anything, they're spread out about 1/2 in randomly located...How anyone did that in the first place is a bit beyond me...And they put a chip into the board...

Newegg finally caved and they're going to set me up with an RMA so, thankfully, at least they'll make good.

I do have a suggestion for all of you...If you receive a motherboard from the Egg or anyone with different shrink-wrap then what you've received before, be extremely cautious...I almost wish I had just sent it back...

So, I'm looking at a 10+ day delay with the Egg and the Waterblocks were supposedly finally shipped on Friday.

Now that I know where the general areas are, I'm going to start cutting tubing and get everything laid out.

Danger Den stuff comes this week too so, I'll be able to run water at least on the components...

Finished sleeving the fans and installing them so, I'll have some pictures of that to throw up.

In regards to the fans...I'm not very happy with the Cooler Master R4's, but, at 7$ per at 30 fans...I don't really have a leg to complain on.

If anyone knows a place where I can get better fans, maybe that I can take apart and powder the blades or something, for a bulk price, please let me know...Still haven't found anyone willing to do that.

Keep it real.

Will have an update again when the DD stuff arrives.

Dude... I am so so sorry for you. This log has just been one set back after another. Keep trucking though, I crave to see this buildlog finished. Hopefully smooth sailing from here on out. Cheers smile.gif

hold up, you ordered a NEW board and it arrives with bent pins.... why do you have to pay for an RMA?

If we receive a faulty product, be it a hard drive, motherboard or RAM, we RMA the item back to the supplier, get a replacement sent to us, and don't have to pay anything.

I thought EVGA was really good with warranties/RMA's?

And if it came from newegg then shouldn't it be THEIR responsibility to deal with the process?

MY BRAIN?!??! mad.gif

MY BRAIN?!??! mad.gif

I ordered this motherboard in early August.

It sat in my stock closet until about the 22/23/24th.

Never took the shield off...Not once...Knew I didn't have the core yet, knew I didn't have the waterblock ~ So, what's the point?

So, the 24th/25th rolls around and I finally get my waterblock ~ Time to put the core in there!

Open the shield and there are 3 bent pins.

So, put yourself in my shoes for a minute...

I scratched my head and the first thing that crossed my mind is/was, how in God's name did anyone even accomplish that? I mean, it's hard to see them in my Iphone pic, but they're 1/2 in apart, randomly allocated...I don't even know how I could easily accomplish that task beyond maliciously doing it myself...

First thing I did was call EVGA.

On the phone I spoke to a tech AND a CS person that informed me how impossible this was...It could never happen...We have multiple people inspect motherboards before they leave the facility and ultimately, because of that, we do not cover bent pins under your warranty. Unfortunately, we don't know if that motherboard was really left in the closet or not. It's not that we don't trust you, it's just that people often bend pins to get new products. So, you send the motherboard in, we decide if it can be repaired or not, if it can't be, you'll assume the full cost of a retail motherboard but, each case is unique so, we won't know until we get it here.

I've genuinely never been more disgusted talking to a tech...Ever. A VENDOR makes a purchase, installs the motherboard and there are 3 bent pins. Not only is it a DOA product, it's a BROKEN product...Plus, as a business, I didn't pay retail in the first place...So why would I spend 450$+ on for something I spent nearly half on?? I mean what's wrong with you people?

I emailed Chris B, because keep in mind, this is now my SECOND DOA motherboard in 2 months...Who basically told me, the first DOA replacement (The other motherboard) was an exception to the rule, they don't have a system in place for DOA and they can't make an exception for the X79... ~ I'm not asking for an exception, I'm asking for a policy that covers this because the end consumer CLEARLY didn't cause this issue.

So, I spoke to my rep at NewEgg one last time...Chatted on-line...They finally accepted the return.

Ultimately, this leaves me with a very bitter taste in my mouth @ EVGA because while I realize the chances of this happening are rare...It does happen...My theory is that a NewEgg employee took it home, it didn't work, I don't know/understand WHO bent the pins but, IMO it was deliberate; they re-wrapped and tossed it back in inventory...I can't prove this but, it does happen...Any warehouse worker will tell you that...

I mean look at the SPACING on those pictures...Aside from needle nose, how do you even get in there?

At this point, I'm going to hope that NewEgg makes it right but, in terms of EVGA...This is actually strike 3 for me...What sucks is that Asus's RMA department is even worse...So, I'm stuck with "amazing customer service" that isn't amazing or, no customer service at all...Time to get a contract with Asrock rolling.

That's pretty bad service, on all fronts
Seems like Customer service is long dead huh?

Must have been a factory error, no production line is 100%

Hope it all gets sorted out

Peace
