Colors in uploaded and computer are different

Thread Starter
This problem just recently started. I edited some photos and the colors on them when I upload to flickr or any other photo site are completely different from what I see on the computer and in photoshop.

Examples:

6781186616_44bf87a4f3_b.jpg

This looks purple, on my computer its a nice blue. Also the helicopter seems to be desaturated.

6927281417_e9b3b4723f_b.jpg

This is extremely brown and desaturated. On my computer it looks a vibrant yellow/orange.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

To me, your photographs both look very vibrant without being over-saturated. I see the full range of the dark orange/light red to bright yellow spectrum in the second photograph and the first photograph has a very natural looking blue sky with a vibrant red on the tail rotor and the correct white balance between the black and white areas of the helicopter. The men and their uniforms and weapons are distinguishable from one another without being washed out.

The Mexican flag looks faded, but I think that's reality, not your color balance.

I'd say that whatever you did in photoshop was very true to reference.

Check to see what parameters have changed on your PC. Did you change the website color settings? Did you change video drivers? Did you change monitor settings? Did you do a Windows Media calibration? Did you roll back drivers, perform a system restore, or perform a backup restore? Did your browser version update or change recently? Have you tried with different browsers?

I'm guessing that it's an issue with your browser.

Those photographs look great to me.

Oh wow, I tried looking at the photos on IETab, and they look right. Although now that I see it I did oversaturate them a bit.

Hmm, no idea why Chrome would be doing this. Anyone else have this problem before?

I had that happen with Chrome once after an update. I switched to Firefox for different reasons and the problem went away.

I didn't think that your photographs looked oversaturated. Perhaps maybe slightly, but only slightly; really, they look good to me.

EDIT: On closer examination the front half of the helo near the rotor and canopy is oversaturated. The rear half looks fine, but that's probably due to the lighting.

It's minor, and the RGB balance is excellent.

Oh yeah, I did just install a chrome update.

Hmm, this is weird. I may switch to FF as well until I find a fix.

Hmm, I tried it and it did change the colors, but it's still not accurate.

Consider switching to Firefox, I guess. Noscript and Adblock support is better and multiple tab resource use is lower in Firefox. Of course single-page loading speeds are faster in Chrome.

At least the colors won't be all jacked up in Firefox.

Figured it out I think. I saved the images using ProPhoto RGB which Chrome doesn't support, so it converted to sRGB which causes the colors to be distorted.

EDIT: Nope, that's not it. Still same problem if I save with normal RGB space.

EDIT: Nevermind, this actually is the problem. Hmmm.
