Opinions on first HTPC build.

Thread Starter
So I have decided to build a HTPC, but have never done so before. I would say I am experience with building standard desktops but have no experience with HTPCs. I have put together a parts list by myself and I was just wondering if its any good.

Here are the parts (please tell me if they are all compatible and whatnot, I think they are though):

CPU/Onchip Graphics: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16725
MOBO: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=18258
HDD: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16679
CASE: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=14700
RAM: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=13598
OPTICAL DRIVE: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=18220
PSU: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=18878

My main priority is that it does what I need, runs quietly, and doesn't create too much heat.
I will probably only be playing video files from a HDD, streaming web video, and other similar thing. I will also use it for downloads/torrents as it should be quieter and cooler than my main rig.

Is there anything I have forgotten?

Anything you would add?

Anything you would change?

Any help will be appreciated.

EDIT: Could anything you suggest come from the website I used if possible, as it is the best parts seller in Australia.

EDIT2: Also any suggestions I could do to save money, I can spend more if needed, but less is always good.

Change the CPU to a 2105 for the better integrated graphics.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am having trouble finding that CPU anywhere in Australia, on all the sites I know.

Yeah I am pretty close to a MSY, I will look at them too.

Those alternates you gave me look pretty good too, probably go that way.

Thanks a lot man, +REP.

Still open to any and all suggestions though.

EDIT: The intel build will run cooler though, wont it? Allowing for quieter cooling I would think. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Why the lanbox case? If it's an HTPC, are you going to try and integrate it with any other A/V equiptment? have you thought about htpc case that are more flat, and look more like a DVD player, or audio receiver? I know for my purposes I was looking at a sandy bridge celeron. Maybe an i3....

You would also be able to have a wider array of choices with a flatter HTPC case. Instead of limiting yourself to a mini ITX board.

Ah ok. As I said I know very little about this stuff. Basically I just picked a nice looking case marketed as a HTPC case and built around that. I will have more of a look at these. Feel free to suggest an entire speclist if you have the time, i would really appreciate it.

They will both run cool n quiet, a HTPC is not really needing much computing power.

To make things more quiet I suggest:

PSU: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_535&products_id=17405 ( I have one in wife's computer) thumb.gif
CPU cooler: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_23_312&products_id=14686 or similar

To save more money you could look at the A4 3400 or A6 3600 chips, both are more then what is needed for HD video playing, with internet down loading and browsing at the same time.
