Gigabyte ethernet port issue

Thread Starter
Just finished replacing my XFX 750w PSU with a Seasonic 750w modular power supply and after powering up the computer, I was unable to get my integrated ethernet port on my Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P motherboard to work. I've tested 2 different cables, uninstalled and reinstalled the ethernet controller drivers for it from the driver cd that came with the motherboard. Im currently using pdanet through my droid x phone to connect to the internet to post this. any suggestions as to what else i could do to fix this short of going to bestbuy tomorrow to buy a network card?

Try updating your BIOS ROM first.

BTW why did you change your PSU????? the XFX 750 XXX is a good PSU, it is seasonic rebrand i am pretty sure.

I changed the PSU as the XFX PSU i originally bought was a completely non-modular PSU and made the insides a cluttered mess.

also, i already have the latest update to the motherboard bios (version F6) available from gigabytes site.

something else i've noticed since installing this PSU is that when booting up the computer, my monitor seems to flicker for ~2-3 seconds and then stops, something that didnt happen with the xfx psu.

edit 1:i really dont want to believe that changing from an 80+bronze certified PSU to a 80+ gold certified PSU is the cause of all this. it was quite literally the only thing that changed before this happened aside from adding a cpu 8pin power cable extension to the cpu cable of the PSU so i didnt have to stretch the cable across the top of my 6870's.

edit 2: i've gone back into the bios to verify that the onboard lan port is enabled. also, none of the indicator lights on the port are blinking when plugging in the ethernet cable.

i went out to fry's electronics today to buy a cat6 cable, ethernet cable tester, and pci ethernet card, after installing the new card, my suspicions were confirmed. cables were tested as good, port was enabled in bios, but the port no longer functions at all. will be ordering a new mobo and rma'ing this board.

Can you not test with your old PSU again?

If that works, you know what the problem is.
