Kingston firmware update HELP???

Thread Starter
I talked to Kingston tech support today and they told me to update firmware, which I figured. But I cannot update on my computer because when I go into BIOS and change to AHCI it doesn't recognize SSD, it will only load OS in IDE. Support said I had to be in AHCI to update firmware (yes OS originally loaded in AHCI ). Support said to hook up to another computer, which is Asus laptop. I have an adapter ( don't know what it's called ) that plugs into SSD and then into USB port 2.0 on laptop, but when I start program to update firmware it does not recognize the SSD. Can someone please tell me what I need to do so I can update firmware?

Thanks

If you don't have access to another computer that can hook up your drive with a Sata connection then your best bet is to secure erase the drive and start over reinstalling windows.

Here's a link to a guide from Sean.

I would also reset cmos on your motherboard by using the jumper or removing the battery.
