My choice should be obvious i3. tongue.gif
If you need even lower powwr just undervolt a regular chip. I saw someone here get a 2100 to 0.975v rock solid stable. Was pulling 48watts with prime 95 running all out.
Add in sales tax and gas cost to get to the store and back. 99$ cpu quickly becomes 120-125$.
Head to the ocn marketplace.

i think that may have been me

or go I7 if you also plan on folding altho my I3 gets ok points using SMP but i do fold on my gpu`s and cpu so i take a PPD hit on my cpu

Thanks for the replies. Except for folding, it looks like the overwhelming response is for the i3. I ordered the power saving one that I mentioned, it was only like 20 more bucks than the regular one. I'm sure it will fold better than the Athlon X2 anyway, and I can leave it at 100% and not have the fans cranked all the way up 24/7.

i3 2100 = $99 at Microcenter. I cant stand Newegg anymore, they're so untrustworthy.
