You is the key word. I have only had 1 Virus (AKA Fruadware) since 2002 and it took my less then 7 minutes to remove (Windows XP). I do not need security software, but I use MSE because it is simple/ligh-weight and I like to monitor/use what I recommend.
In 2006 Apple had a much smaller user base in the PC market, there user base has grown now and the number of users with problems have grown. In the last 2 years I have seen an enormous increase in Apple PC security problems. Also, your 3 means nothing if the majority of people in your area do not use Macs or go to a Mac specialist (AKA Apple Tech) or another tech. I'm near all a-lot universities and a-lot of students use Apple products, especially the Mac Books!
Finally, come-on. You're a Mac Book Fanboy! I see in your sig. How about this. Your Macbook VS my fully loaded Dell Precision M4600 which happens to be running OSX and Windows 7!
You say you know, but you do not, because you purchased a Mac when you could have got better specs and made a hackintosh... The only difference is the software and OSX does not even come close to what Windows 7 can do... OSX is a good OS, but it is no Windows 7.

I did indeed write the list in the wrong order - truly, thanks for the correction... and I mean that sincerely.
You have kinda negated your own point though... that malware is the current 'in-vogue' term covering all the other badness; and, that 'virus' OR 'malware' are used now generically to denote and describe all of these infections, without the reductionist crap.
