Completley true.

Trying to pass off a Semi-Static detection and permissions system as AV and anti malware capable is moronic.

Some day I will learn, eh? I have been in front of one computer or another since before you were born.

I'll be nice and share a little knowledge with you since you seem to be having a little trouble learning on your own:

I worked in a uni computer store for two years and have only seen 3 macs infected with something, which was user installed in the end. I cant even count how many Windows machines come in. I could maybe ask our NOC to get me some numbers on network blocks of windows machines vs. os x.
I work in an IT for a uni and even with Forefront Endpoint 2010 (based on MSE technology) we still get the occasional call for malware. and that's only with 120 users. rolleyes.gif

You is the key word. I have only had 1 Virus (AKA Fruadware) since 2002 and it took my less then 7 minutes to remove (Windows XP). I do not need security software, but I use MSE because it is simple/ligh-weight and I like to monitor/use what I recommend.

In 2006 Apple had a much smaller user base in the PC market, there user base has grown now and the number of users with problems have grown. In the last 2 years I have seen an enormous increase in Apple PC security problems. Also, your 3 means nothing if the majority of people in your area do not use Macs or go to a Mac specialist (AKA Apple Tech) or another tech. I'm near all a-lot universities and a-lot of students use Apple products, especially the Mac Books!

Finally, come-on. You're a Mac Book Fanboy! I see in your sig. How about this. Your Macbook VS my fully loaded Dell Precision M4600 which happens to be running OSX and Windows 7!

You say you know, but you do not, because you purchased a Mac when you could have got better specs and made a hackintosh... The only difference is the software and OSX does not even come close to what Windows 7 can do... OSX is a good OS, but it is no Windows 7.

I guess some people like strait-jackets!

How very true, a person of any age can be condescending and continue to beat a dead horse that other participants in a debate have already moved on from.

Worked from '07-10 (sorry, meant 3 years now that i look at it) at the computer store on a college campus where the Apple market is actually equal if not greater than Windows, as you so delicately pointed out. Nice try. We're also an AASP, so we are Mac specialists.

Next, your personal attack on my macbook? lol you're a peach. Plus, i cant get over your grammar. Back to the discussion at hand.

haha good call thumb.gif

I did indeed write the list in the wrong order - truly, thanks for the correction... and I mean that sincerely.

You have kinda negated your own point though... that malware is the current 'in-vogue' term covering all the other badness; and, that 'virus' OR 'malware' are used now generically to denote and describe all of these infections, without the reductionist crap.

Thanks for being nice - it does not seem to come easily to you.

But, still, you do not answer any specific points...

I have no trouble learning - but, hey! thanks for yet another insult; at least this time you were correct in your correction wink.gif

I do not 'assume' to know your age for at least 2 reasons 1) that doesn't make sense and 2) why would I?... but I know that I am the older party. wink.gif not that it makes much difference

Age, indeed does not equal wisdom; neither do insults.

I think that we will end in a kind of 'different opinions' position. Neither will back down - but we could be nice about it, rather than mean and rude. biggrin.gif

Keywords/numbers are worked and 2010. Stop living in the passed. a lot has change in the last 2 years. I work in Boston MA. Plus tell me what campus and computer store, because I think you're full of it. I notice the liars always make a grammar attack when they know they are wrong. It makes my laugh.

Sorry, cannot change the years. That just tells me you're full-of-bull...

Also, if you want to have a writing contest, please let me know the site where we can publish our papers. This is a forum and I'm typing 70 plus words a second with little editing and playing SC2 on and off.

2 words for you > Moo! Moo!
