radiator cooling - Page 2

I'd think whether a shroud helps or not would also depend on how fast you're running the fans too, no? I can see how in very low RPM situations a shroud might hurt because it's putting the fan far enough away from the rad to diminish static pressure.

EDIT: Probably especially in a push config

That is a possibility. I'm going to be doing a silent/low RPM fan set up. I'll have to try it:)

well both my fans are high rpm so I'm gonna try putting a shroud between the push fan and rad to see if it boosts flow or not.
only reason I'm messing with it is I was getting 28c at idle and 48c full load with my xigmatek aegir and with this antex 620
im seeing 32-33C idle and 54 load whichs means I don't have something right. I know the base is lapped and the tim is right
and its seated properly so its something to do with the 620 itself or the radiator fans.

I know I have seen people use a gutted fan (removed blade's) as shouds for both push pull on the CLC's with good review's.

I am a shroud guy,the theory makes perfect sense BUT rather than a massive difference in temps I think a correct matching of fan/radiator/shroud is going to show most in the area of "how I achieved this great temp without having extremely noisy fans" Anyone can mount a really dense fin radiator and slap on some high amperage/high cfm fans and get good temps (as long as he removes the plastic protective film on his new cpu block:))The goal is getting these great temps with the least amount of noise.Well that is my train of thought when selecting parts for cooling.

Bingo, Thats what I'm going for when I do my loop. SILENCE! I have two san ace's and shesh....done with that noise. Bring on the undervolted low noise fans with low FPI rads please!
