Oh boy, I just impulse bought a 2700K - Page 7

BIG EDIT

I put a buch of garbage benches, and other useless crap to show the power of the 2600k over the 2500k ,(Then removed it) at the end of the day it doesnt matter. Both CPUS are fast, the 2600k has HT with makes it faster for multi threading and benches. No big deal to be honest. I think they both do well. Im just tired of some of the posts I see by members, about the greatness of one and not the other. Im going to take the blue pill and relax thumb.gif

Wow lots of posts. smile.gif Well got my parts today and finally got everything up and running. OMG the Corsair A70 is a huge monster! I was freaked out by the sheer size of this thing. Also the bios is crazy. it will take some getting used to. But everything works. biggrin.gif It took longer to get all the windows updates than it did to put everything together. Go figure. rolleyes.gif

Well that feeling of guilt is completely gone! This 2700K is heaps faster than my antiquated C2Q. And I have not even got into overclocking it yet, that will more than likely be tomorrow. smile.gif

As a matter of fact this is the first time I've heard that one. If it were true I'm sure people would have been shouting it from the rooftops, screaming 7.0, 7.0 !!!!
For everything I've read, I keep getting the same constant responses and articles stating a modest 10-15% performance increase and lower power consumption. It's going to be a good CPU there's no doubt, but not the second coming. Intel was sure not to make the same mistake as AMD and over hype a product it can't deliver.
I would expect that maybe the majority of users will be able to reach 5.0 Ghz this time,, dont expect much more then that

LOL, reminds me of the AMD overhype, people WHERE screaming 8ghz 8ghz 8ghz!!!! lol then we got a 5ghz if your lucky with great water cooling. I havent followed the 7ghz intel did but if it was LN2 there is no telling what it will really do on air/custom loops. Only time will tell, but either way Im excited! Regardless Im sure the 3770k will take the thrown for the fastest desktop cpu and I want in on that! lol

About the 2700k, Hope it overclocks like a beast! At least enough to make you happy waiting till ivy isnt sold out thumb.gif

I thought about it and if there's any truth to the 7.0 GHz thing and Intel does what it does best, it will go like this,, Ivy comes out, with a modest 5.0 GHz all round,, 10 months later a revision hits which will be able to achieve higher OC's maybe 6.4 to get more SB people on board and even previous owners of IVY to upgrade,, then a final revision of a 7.0 GHz CPU which will bring over anybody else that didn't upgrade from SB and most 1st gen Ivy owners = maximum profit,, so even if it's true with Intel's current competition of itself, I doubt we see a 7.0 GHz release on the first gen chips (even if they have it) tongue.gif

7GHz maybe on LN2 for benching if anything at all. Otherwise 7GHz stable 24/7 is like asking for 5GHz stable 24/7 on a 65nm chip. It's not happening..... Probably not 'til 10nm parts.

7.0 was either on LN2 or some other crazy super cold fluids. Its a suicide run thing just to find max OC . Basically all that means in real world settings is 5.0 and a little higher will be easier to obtain with Ivy.

As for the OP... Awesome you got everything in and running. I too saw that deal and couldn't pass it up either. Sadly you had a much better reason for doing it than I did as you were coming from a C2Q. I have an i5 2550K that already clocks up to 5.4 LOL no real need for it for me but if its even a bit faster with 3ds max and blender than my i5 (with HT it should be imo) then I'm happy enough. Although I also added in a nice water cooling kit for it . thumb.gif

Just installed my 2700k today. Awaiting the 4 ultra kaze fans i ordered and the antec kuhler 920 to go with. I got soo lucky. A coworker wanted a gaming pc built so for the cash he gave i gave him my 2500k and splurged on the same deal as op!! 2700k for cheaper than 2600k ohh yeah!

Managed to snag 3gb 580 to go with. Skyrim texted me to say thanks.

Heres to hoping this chip lives up to its little brothers legacy
