[Build Log] Switch 810 + WC noob = ? - Page 2

Awesome build log, all these Switch 810 build logs are starting to sway me away from the TJ11 I'm eyeing. I'd recommend to go Res/Pump>240>GPU>CPU>360>Pump/Res. After a while, the water will equalize, so going gpu>rad>>CPU>rad has no different apart from makin the tubing look messier. Other than that, it's looking sweet smile.gif

Subbed. I ordered an 810 about two days ago and I am wanting to WC it too.
Why didn't you go with a 420 at the top?
Looks good so far, was the universal GPU block hard to install?

Yea it does look a little congested to me. I originally was going to route it the way you suggested,
I've read all over that loop order doesn't matter much (other than res>pump). May change it to look a little neater. And thanks!

Yes sir you will. If you look at the 2 cages I left in, the rad up top doesn't interfere with the top one at all, and there are 3 bays in the top cage. No problem putting a res in there

With this case, I consider WC the best way to go by far. Not sure on the 420, didn't even think of it much. Definitely would've gone in fine though, the case has sets of holes for 120/140.

It wasn't difficult, other than me thinking the included screws were too short, just had to press down harder. Also, the mounting back plate has a small rubber pad in the middle, so that the metal doesn't make PCB contact. Right in that spot are a bunch of PCB components though, resistors and such. I thought they might be getting crushed lol but after putting it together and back apart, the rubber pad turned out to be pretty soft and has an impression of those components in it so I'm sure its not going to be a problem.

If you're putting RAM sinks like I did, definitely need some low profile ones, the clearance from sink to barbs isn't much. Luckily those are what I ordered based on a tip from another forum member.

Leak test been going strong about 12 hours. How long do you guys recommend doing it for? I've seen up to 24 hours, but is that mainly for peace of mind?

Tell me how the temps are on your GPU when you get everything finished. I'm looking at getting a 7970 Lightning and a universal GPU block, as opposed to a reference GPU and a full cover block as I like all the VRM's and such that the lightning series offers. Just not sure as to what the temperatures are like with just the GPU being cooled, and the vrms and such being cooled passively. Interested in what it'll be like, thanks thumb.gif

No problem man will do, I'll post up some numbers. One thing I will say though, getting the VRM heatsinks to stick with this double sided thermal tape, is a pain in the ass. lol
