Haven't seen a place for Plextor M3 owners, so I figured I'd start one.

Post your AS-SSD and CrystalDiskMark screenies and I'll add you to the list....

Current firmware is 1.03/1.04. Newest firmware updates to accomodate the new Plextool utility. If you have an earlier drive you should make sure you verify and update if necessary.

Wow, I have to say this is the best 4k read score I've ever seen. I'll definitely keep an eye on this SSD as my next upgrade from Intel 320.

Edit: OMG, just noticed those crazy low acess times. This is one helluva boot drive! Now I'm officially jealous thumb.gif

I have posted in another thread the as-ssd results from my old kingston drive, the 4k results were only just over 1mb/sec. Imagine the noticeable speed increase that this drive produces. I was torn between this and the M4, but all in all im impressed with this drive. I would recommend this drive to anyone. The Pro series is only a little bit faster for the price difference.

Thanks! I'm interested in how the 512GB does as well, but I'd love to know how you get those insane 4k reads/writes biggrin.gif

Edit: I bet it's your Z68X-UD5 lol

I would also like to see that, but i'm afraid 512 gigabyte drives will be somewhat slower. According to Plextor's specification page, 512 GB version has significantly lower both read and write IOPS than its lower capacity cousins. That goes for the upcoming M3 Pro version as well.

Would you be bothered to bench your drive again, but with Minimum processor state in Power Options set to 100%. It is a tweak mostly used by laptop owners, but i found it had a noticable effect on my system. In AS SSD, 4k read score went from 19.5 MB/s to 21.5 MB/s and access time was slightly lower as well. As for the real world performance I noticed the ITunes loading in less than 2 seconds as opposed to 2.5-3 seconds before, and Team Fortress 2 is definitely loading faster so it's not a placebo.

I wonder if you could top 35 MB/s in 4K read that way. Impress us please biggrin.gif
