Tell me about m5s 128gb. How is it after it reaches it's capacity and after a couple month of usage ?

I am ordering it today. It is my first ssd. I still have a chance to order something else (but plextor price is the best)

Looking at grabbing a Plextor M5S 256GB SSD, as I'm on a budget, and its on sale for $169 near me.

I do not do much heavy gaming; spend more time in Second Life, Star Trek Online and occasionally Guild Wars2... while on a rare occasion I'll get into a more demanding game like Crysis2 or a Call of Duty Game... but I will be keeping those on my HDD.

In fact I've already prepped my HDD, partitioned it and shrunk the Windows Partition down to 168GB of total used space, with everything else on a separate partition... the only game I have on the Windows Partition at the moment is my Guild Wars 2 installation, and Steam installation of Star Trek Online, while ALL of my other Steam Games have been moved over to the other Partition via SteamMover...

The Plextor M5S is appealing because of its current price, and it advertises decent 4K read/write speeds which I've come to understand is the "important" specification when looking at SSD's...

But I am wondering if, for just a casual gamer, is it really worth trying to wait for the M5P to become available and/or go on sale? Microcenter had several of them in stock over this weekend, but now they're all sold out, and now I am seeing the M5S selling out fast. 10 listed as In Stock at my local Microcenter as of Saturday, and now down to 2 left as of today.

So if I am going to grab an M5S, then I should do it soon... but, I keep reading reviews that say its the same as its predecessor, the M3... so then is it really worth getting?

Microcenter does not have the M5P Pro listed, but Newegg has it listed at $209 but out of Stock and no estimation of when new stock will be available... WhileTigerDirect has it priced at $259...

So I may just grab one of those M5S's while I can...

Well, it's not in my hands yet, but I've just ordered the Plextor M5Pro Xtreme 256gb from Newegg. They dropped price from $249.99 to $209.99. Then I used the Visa V.me promotion code for checkout for 10% off. With free ship and no tax, but total is $188.99 and hopefully I'll have it at the beginning of next week.

Now I just have to get ready to clone by 64gb Crucial M4 to the Plextor rolleyes.gif
