Suggestions on my C2D e6300 rig build

I love all you guys who help out all of us who are not as knowledgeable!

OK here it is. My budget is very locked at $1000 ish taxed and shipped )= if only money was of no concern.

I plan to OC with the stock HSF for starters, if i get hooked i"ll upgrade later. (Debating on Arctic Silver or similar thermal past over the stock stuff???)

While I'm not a heavy/hardcore gamer I want to be able to play the games that are out there, watch dvds now and again, listen to music and work with my digital photos and video (just the average user here) and general home office stuff.

Here is what I've come up with so far

CPU:E6300 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115005
$180

MoBo: Gigabyte DS3 $137.99 (from fry's) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128012 Any other suggestions w/in my price range? This seemed the best I could find on various reviews etc.

RAM:A-Data 1gb (2x512) DDR2 667 PC2 5300 dual channel $114 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211012 (Need some advice on this, it was a good price for the specs but don't know if it is quality or not.)

GPU: EVGA GForece 7600GT 256mb GDDR3 $132.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130062 (From my research this seems like a good card for my budget, able to play the latest games (not at great quality but still . . . able) Suggestions??.

Monitor: Acer AL1717 17: 8mss LCD $159.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009070

HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160 7200 rpm SATA 3.0gb/s $56.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148149

Optical: LG 16x DVD +- R super multi DVD burner w/ 12x DVD Ram $30.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136091

OX: XP Home $89.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116056

case: Antec B-stock SLK1640B $44.00 taxed and shipped
http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=91654O ya, it comes with a PSU 350W smart power 2.0 atx 12v

Random keyboard and mouse $20-30

which comes to a grand total of $1062.00 (really don't want to go higher than this! But if I have some fatal error in the build I just mentioned maybe i'll have to rethink my build

Thanks for all you suggestions in advance I really appreciate the help and hope that I did enough foot work on my on to not be one of the guys that walks in here and says " hey I need a new computer where do I start).

I'd definately get better RAM if I were you. Even Corsair Value Select DDR2 would be a better choice. Otherwise that looks like a reasonable system.

I was thiking 1 gig @ 667 would be decent for a stock HSF OC, on this system I'm guessing the HSF and Temp will be the limiting factor for OCing? is that correct.

Could you possibly give me a link to the RAM, there is just so many out there with such different specs.

Thanks

Why not a S3 instead of the DS3? Same thing, just different capacitors. Cheaper too. The life span would be a little longer with the DS3, but unless you plan on keeping it for over 6-7 years, it won't really matter.

And get 2GB DDR2-800 if you can. If not, just go 1GB of DDR2-800.

well a quick look at the egg and I see that 800 ram 1Gb is just about $10 more than what I had listed. Is it overkill on a stock HSF OC? basically what is the least expensive RAM that will not be the bottleneck of an OC for a stock HSF on this system?

Thanks for pointing out that 800 is not much more than 667 Ram.

And the S3 is getting some serious contemplation right now (=

I would like some more oppinions before I buy. How bout the video card? Is there a cheaper one that will still do a halfway decent job on the latest games

I'd really appreciate some more thoughts on my build, tear up my plan or give me some reassurance before I buy please.

Definately get the S3. Becuase this motherboard is an overclocking monster. 385 FSB without trying at all. If you don't care about timings get some value DDR2-800 and it will run at 400 mhz guaranteed. Running at 1:1 you will be able to reah 400 FSB which is plenty.

how bout the power supply w/ the case, it is antec 350W smart power 2.0. I hear antec is great quality psu, but will the 350W be sufficient for my system?

Right now I think the part i'm most uncertain about is ram, I want something that will not be the limiting factor when I OC w/ stock hsf.

I'm going to start of with 1G (2x512) for money reasons and eventually get more if I need to. So what speed (as stated above DDR2 800 could fit in my budget around $120 max) but would ddr2 6xx with some better timeings be a better choice? suggestions and links greatly appreciated

I ran a power consumption progarm from a site i don't remember but when I put in all my parts it estimated I would be using 222W which would leave plenty or room for OC and adding stuff right?
