Vega's *Heavyweight* display and computer; edition 2012 - Page 101

Surprised it doesn't fall on its side. 2 monitors on one side with 1 on the other. Also, how do you get that mic to be loud enough? With mine it's never loud enough even at full volume. Even though it's the exact same mic that other people have. :headscrat

The Samsung panels are amazingly light. I think 3-4 of my 23" Samsung panels are the same weight as one Catleap panel.

The 384-bit of the 7970's work a lot better, but to get everything 100% perfect hopefully the 89xx series will have 512-bit bandwidth. That will be awesome for the display setups like mine and 4K resolution displays of the future.
There is definitely a point of diminishing return on resolution also. For instance having 3.7 million pixels on each end monitor just for peripheral vision is definitely overkill, especially taking into account how much GPU power it takes to run them. As for the "lower" resolution of the 5x1 TN Panel's, 10-million pixels still looks marvelous. Especially at 120 Hz. The 23" of each 1080P panel also scales really well compared to the 27" 1440P as the size decreases. 5x1 23" is a bit larger than most people realize IMO. That's 58 inches diagonal and with the PPI and clarity to sit two feet from it makes for some awesome gaming. wink.gif

That's a bit disappointing seeing as the 580s handled your triple 1600P quite nicely. I'm surprised Tahiti is doing so well in 4-way after the last try with Caymans not working at all beyond 3-way. How's the micro-stutter?

There is none. wink.gif Or at least the FPS is so fast it completely smooths them out. GW2 is like glass.

BF3 is stutter free with Tahiti too? Didn't you have micro-stutter trouble with the dual 6990s which made you go back to 580s?

The 7970s are VASTLY BETTER than the 6970s. I am running quadfire 7970s @3240x1920 120hz and there is zero microstutter...but then again as Vega says this may be a function of our FPS being well over 120 most of the time.

So I put my 3 xl2420t's in portrait today and honestly do not know how you guys deal with the color shifting.

And the horizontal refresh rate too. I think that might of been part of the problem with Vega's triple 1600P portrait eye strain.

Good to know. Guess I'll get another one(or two!) 7950s. I think I'd personally prefer 3 Catleaps in landscape to 5 portrait TN panels.
