I'll never understand intel extreme pricing.

I bought Loud_Silences used 3960X that clocks quite nicely for only a couple hundred more than a new 3930K, so it works out well.

This is the chip:

http://hwbot.org/submission/2236455_l0ud_sil3nc3_superpi_core_i7_3960x_6sec_563ms

Hopefully I will be able to run it around 5.2GHz under chilled water.

I have noticed that you are running your chips at fairly high frequencies. I seem to remember that you ran your 990X at 5GHz and you're running your 2700K at 5.2GHz. But just out of curiosity; what kind of voltages are you feeding these chips? What is considered a safe 24/7 voltage with the chilled water cooling that you have?

I usually run my chips 1.5 - 1.52v. Never had any problems. The key is keeping temps down. wink.gif

lol yes. 1.5v is fun, especially when getting a 4.16ghz 45nm pentuim Dual Core stable with an H60 biggrin.gif

Nice.

Well I broke down and have four of these inbound:

245

I can't help it, EK water blocks draw me in like crack to a crack-whore! biggrin.gif

I am going to hold off on the Rampage IV Extreme motherboard VRM and chip-set liquid blocks and the four RAM blocks until I am sure that is the route I want to take for my permanent setup.

I'd make sure you keep some hefty airflow over the VRM area with the RIVE then. Personally my chip started throttling at around 5GHz without a fan blowing straight to the mosfets. Using around 1.5v.

Chips are power hungry and the small space for the power delivery between the ram slots isn't helping. But as long as you have active cooling or water on it it should be fine.

Also the EK mobo blocks for the RIVE are quite nice, liking mine smile.gif

Really nice build you've got here. thumb.gif

I wanna order 5 680s too .__.
