The pressure will stay generally the same with the outside atmosphere and the fluctuation in pressure shouldn't be too great to cause an air leak/humidity exchange. If I need to open the case to work on anything I would just replace the desiccant with new stock and re-seal it.

You could also cut a hole in the bottom and top of the case with quick disconnect hoses on both, and then fill up the thing with something heavier than air from the bottom, like CO2 (Or Sulfur Hexafluoride) forcing all the air out of the top.. Then disconnect the valve on the top and bottom, and you should have a pure CO2 environment with no humidity (theoretically you pushed it all out). You could also toss a desiccant in there to help the process.

Edit: In the process, I would fill the thing from the bottom (with a dense gas) and have the top quick disconnect attached to nothing so it leaks. Then put a match up to the top tube and let it run. When the CO2 begins to come out of the tube, it will extinguish the match, and then you just need to let it feed for a little while longer. Disconnect the top valve first (so it seals) and then the bottom after you have built a little pressure. As long as the thing is completely airtight, you are good to go! A perfectly dry environment with nothing to condense!

this sounds freaking awesome, maybe use argon or another nobel gas, or have a helium 'bubble' inside an inverted aquarium, maybe make it gasometer style tongue.gif

Working on the ambient side of the loop today. Setting up to test the 3960X and RIVE under water.

SANY0014-3.jpg

Mocking up components to test routing of liquid lines. 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD Norprene tubing is hard to bend and fit in tight places.

SANY0015-2.jpg

The Team Group 2400 9-11-11-28 RAM came in (4x 4GB).

SANY0017-2.jpg

Working on some of the supply/return valve systems.

SANY0018-1.jpg

Made a custom stand out of some old Ikea speaker stands.

SANY0011-4.jpg

Reservoir up top with a couple silver kill coils.

SANY0012-3.jpg

Liquid line routing. The open ended valves that are shut will attach to the Geo-thermal section of the cooling loop.

SANY0019-1.jpg

Testing out the loop and checking for leaks.

SANY0020-2.jpg

Getting rid of air in the system as been a huge PITA. I am going to have to come up with some sort of custom pump/system to force water through the system and flush all the air out under pressure. The Iwaki RD-30 is a beast of a pump in a closed system but if there is some air in the lines it has a hard time getting going. The system already used 1 gallon of distilled water and I ran out so I wasn't able to fire the rig up. Tomorrow is another day.
