Yes, there are no 4-way GPU's that could run five 2B Catleaps properly. I really wanted 5x1, so I went back to the Samsung's as they are the best you can get for 120 Hz TN panels and be nice and thin.

Guild Wars 2 last beta starts tomorrow. I will post on how 4-way Cross-fire in 5x1 works out.

As long as the framerate was fluid and playable, I think I'd opt for the higher resolution over the higher framerate that comes with the lower res. If drivers were working a bit better, do you think it would have been powerful enough?

Also, can you see the difference between 60 fps and 100 fps?

I think it comes down to the GPU's bandwidth. GTX 680's completely choked on three Catleaps. Was a stuttering mess at that high of a resolution. The 384-bit of the 7970's work a lot better, but to get everything 100% perfect hopefully the 89xx series will have 512-bit bandwidth. That will be awesome for the display setups like mine and 4K resolution displays of the future.

There is definitely a point of diminishing return on resolution also. For instance having 3.7 million pixels on each end monitor just for peripheral vision is definitely overkill, especially taking into account how much GPU power it takes to run them. As for the "lower" resolution of the 5x1 TN Panel's, 10-million pixels still looks marvelous. Especially at 120 Hz. The 23" of each 1080P panel also scales really well compared to the 27" 1440P as the size decreases. 5x1 23" is a bit larger than most people realize IMO. That's 58 inches diagonal and with the PPI and clarity to sit two feet from it makes for some awesome gaming. wink.gif

I'm sorry, but did you just call 5400x1920 low res? LMAO, this is not 720p 120hz versus 1080p 60hz....Whatsa ten million pixels not enough for ya big spenda rolleyes.gif

And yes, there are miles of difference between 60hz, 100hz and 120hz.

He said lower res, not low res. Kind of a big difference there.

oh so your latest setup is 5x 23" TN 120hz panels at 1080p, not 5X27" TN panels at 1440p.. I thought you managed to get 18.4 million pixel screens working at 120hz!! would be cool though if thats possible..
so your 5 monitors are samsung SA23750Ds, yeah the original bezel are already quite thin. Hope my SA27850Ds have thin bezels inside them, the outer bezel looks fat...

i wish Nvidia enables their cards to run at least 5 monitors like AMD in future, may consider 5x1 as a long term goal... i dont really wanna go change to amd cards again, after using them two times historically.. card failures, driver issues, high temps and stuff...

AMD have come a long way. My four Lightning 7970's are running my 5x1 setup swimmingly and I haven't even overclocked them yet (waiting for EK blocks). Until NVIDIA wake up and allow 5x1, I'll be with AMD for quite a while. Not to mention 79xx series does better at high resolution and refresh rates than the 680 anyway. 680 with it's tiny bandwidth bus.
