Computer keeps restarting

Thread Starter
hi all,

Can you help me with an issue I have been having for some time, my computer goes through phases of re-starting for no apparent reason. Sometimes it goes the the Microsoft repair wizard and other times it does not. It also goes through phases were it does not re-start for days on end.

I have no idea where to begin to start looking to resolve this issue.

All I can tell you is that I have disabled the "Automatically restart option" in order to see an error code on the BSOD. But every time it does restart the BSOD never appears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like you have a virus. I suggest following this guide to use Liunux to remove it. Other than that, are you overclocking? It may be unstable?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info I shall look into it.

I have reverted back to standard settings by clearing CMOS and using optimized settings in the BIOS.

You could also try Re-installing the operating system, but that usually doesn't help.

Back to the drawing board on this one guys.

I have done a fresh install of the OS and also tried to remove any virus using Joshd method.

Can anyone help me?

It is really annoying now. When I do get the computer up and running it can run fine for several hours at a time and then decides to go through the whole restarting process again mad.gif

well, by reinstalling the os you have eliminated software, so it must be hardware. Either something is  overheating, something is loose, or it needs a bios update.

First, update the bios.

Second, check temperatures and make sure things like the northbridge have enough cooling.

Third, total rebuild. Break it down and rebuild it.

If it still does it after all that, start sending stuff back under warranty.
