Audigy 2 NX

Does anybody have anything (bad) to say about this soundcard? Well, it's not a soundcard ... USB 2.0 extern but anyways
I can't quite see if I e.g. will need to switch cables depending on whether I need the 7.1 or just headphones/mic.
This however can be circumvented with switches ofcourse, so I mainly think about if there's issues of general nature with this sound-but-not-card-card
My other option is TerraTec Aureon 7.1 FireWire which cost a bit more, but also appear a little better visually, and judging from the horde of plugs on it's back + the front connectors for headphones/mic no switching there

#2 .... why do you think I've chosen external soundcards for both options? Might it be because I have no spare PCI?
#3 ... If it where for a laptop/PCMCIA, why would I only suggest two cards that have nothing to do with PCMCIA, even as it's cheaper?

The only thing I asked about is whether anyone knows either of those options personally and/or have any concrete (negative) knowledgde about them. The positives I can read from the products page.
Sorry if I come out hostile, but I asked in east and get replies from west.

The only advantage is that you can have one for a laptop. The Negative would be that it uses the USB bandwidth thus using upto 80% of system resources when streaming sound. Also it uses the CPU for its sound proccesing as the External unit doesnt have its own audio CPU.

And resource usage if the firewire?
The CPU usage shouldn't be too big a problem with Intel Exx00 I guess .. with two cores and plenty (some at least) headroom. Just assumption as I suppose that usage of both cores in a situation like this isn't dependant on software programming, but a matter of OS.

Firewire Will be a little friendlier on system resources however not much different as audio data and transmissions are being sent through a very slow connection medium when comapared to the CPU and PCI bus transmission speeds. The drivers will typically use any core that is available. However dont be fooled as when the CPU is used to proccess audio information you can take a performance hit in games.

Cool. this is why there is a search option. This is the exact info i was looking for, and I didn't even have to ask. =)

Because I own an audigy 2 NX, and while it's pretty cool, all in all, i was wondering about how it affected my gaming. And if usb bandwidth is bogging my cpu during gaming, well, that ain't cool. I never play with the music on, but sound effects are a must!
I had read somewhere that the nx didn't have the chip to do the processing, but wasn't able to find any more info on it.

I'm going to assume you know what you are talking about. Fortunetly for me, I recently got a pci audigy card, so I will pop that inside my computer instead.
